The Liga Portugal website shows a double yellow for the player - https://www.ligaportugal.pt/pt/liga/jogo/20192020/liganos/28/4

No sign of it on their highlights either.

Importantly for Portimonense, they will be hoping that Paços de Ferreira come unstuck at Tondela this evening.

Oops, Tondela 1-3 Pacos De Ferreira last night. The win shot Pacos up 4 spots in the League.

At least Tondela are now in the mire with Maritimo and Portimonense.

Six games to go, expecting/hoping for plenty of fluctuations! Still a lot to do for Portimao's team with 5th place Famalicao [a] next up on Tuesday, 7pm.

The clock is ticking ……...

Meanwhile Olhanense are still appealing against the decision not to play the promotion playoffs from the third division up into the second.

Good luck to Olhanense, not many National FA's will backtrack once a decision has been made.

If the appeal does succeed, it wont help them much that the article states they have already transferred/lost their top goalscorer plus three others.

Yahoo.

Familicao 0-1 Portimonense, earlier this evening.

Seventeenth minute goal sealed the win. Other teams down in the relegation dogfight have also been picking up points, so a very valuable three points keeps Portimonense just in reach of safety.

Tomorrow the two teams just above, Belenenses and Tondela play each other in this round. Arguably a draw could be best for Portimonense.

Next up, on Saturday [7.15pm] Portimonense v mid-table Guimaraes. Another win please!

Good result indeed. Only four points now separate Maritímo (12th) and Portimonense (17th).

Going to be some scary moments over these final five matches.

Oh dear, Portimonense 0-1 Guimaraes.

In the five game run since the restart Portimonense, remarkably, had the best record in the Liga. No longer, as a second half did for them this evening.

Four games to go. Next up is a trip to Rio Ave, 5pm on Thursday. Ave are 5th and in with a chance of Europa League qualification, so should be well up for a win against the locals, who are three points adrift of safety.

The clock is ticking very loudly ……….

Yes, not a good evening at all. More possession, more shots, more everything for Portimonense except that vital one , hitting the back of the net.

Definitely need to win next time out. A six point gap with three games left would be too much to make I fear.

Oh dear mark2...…. Rio Ave 2-1 Portimonense, has just finished.

Portimonense went in front early and held the lead for half an hour. Ave equalised with a penalty and they went in level.

Stayed that way until the first minute of added time at the end when the home team found the winner.

'Local' rivals Vitoria Setubal have dropped into the mire now, losing last night to already relegated Aves. They are 13 games without a win and have lost their last five straight. They crucially still have three more points than Portimonense which with just three games left, could be enough to condemn the Algarveians to relegation. Tondela, who if they lose to Benfica later, also are on 30.

Next Tuesday, 8.15pm sees Portimonense v Boavista ……..squeaky bum time again. A MUST win.

I didn't watch the game but Portimonense's recent record doesn't offer a great deal of hope. But Boavista are firmly in mid table, have lost their last two games and have nothing to play for.

Last chance I think for the Algarve team on Tuesday.

Well, Portimonense 2-1 Boavista.
Two first half goals were enough for the win, with Boavista ensuring a squeaky last few minutes with their late goal.

There are now three teams level on 30points, likely from whom the second relegation spot will be filled. Tondela have their  catchup game later tonight, away to Gil Vicente. Setubal lost very late in their game last night.

As things stand its complicated in that little bunch. When teams finish level they are separated on head-to-head results. Simple?

No. Portimonense had two goalless draws with Setubal [Tom, HELP!!].
Portimonense lost 1-0 at home to Tondela but won away 2-1.[HELP again].
Setubal have the edge over Tondela.

Anyhow, still two games to go …… next for the locals is a trip next Monday evening to Pacos de Ferreira, who are up in 13th but not mathematically safe. Both Tondela and Setubal have very difficult games against top sides Braga and Sporting.

On the league website somewhere there is very long list of tie break criteria used to separate teams where the head to head is tied, as it is when the two games between them are drawn with identical scores. I will look for it when home later.

The league table is showing as Tondela above Portimonense despite equal points and goal difference. Tondela have won one more game.

Portuguese Leagues, Tie break split, two or more teams on equal points:

[...] in the games between the teams concerned

1. The highest number of points gained [...] i.e. a kind of mini-league drawn from the results of games played;

2. The higher goal difference [...]

3. The higher number of away goals [...]

So if both games between two teams were draws with the same score, or both were 2-0 home wins etc then we go down to :-

4. The higher goal difference across  ALL league matches;

5. The higher number of wins in  ALL league matches;

6. The higher number of goals scored in  ALL league matches.

If two teams are still tied after all that, there would be a one game playoff at a neutral ground with all the usual rules about extra time and penalties to decide the winner.

If more than two teams are tied after item (6) there would be a mini league at a neutral ground with everything applying from scratch! I would imagine the chances of three teams finishing with identical records must be so remote as to be impossible.
