Our Easyjet flight Faro to Luton on 3rd July has been cancelled now so clearly it wont be a massive early July stampede to the Algarve. We weren't sure about going anyway what with the possibility of the 14 day isolation still being in place especially as only going for a week.

It's starting to get a bit busier at Faro. Twelve flights are due in tomorrow including Ryanair from Manchester.

Four coming from Germany, three from Netherlands, one each from Belgium, France, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

At the minute EasyJet would prefer you to check in all luggage including hand luggage, however, it’s not compulsory.

They also say you have to close the overhead lockers yourself. Fair enough I reckon.

I note that Easy Jet, Gatwick to Faro, are now showing all flights to Monday 6th July as cancelled, except one, then sold out 7th to 22nd.

The one that is flying is on July 4th, apparently, which is also sold out.

20 to 1 that a member of the board of Easy Jet is booked on that flight. 25 to 1 there's a government minister, 10 to 1 it's Dominic "I've got the photos" Cummings... Wink    LOL

I would be quite confident of a flight out to Faro at the moment given no new cases in Ayrshire today and only 14 in Scotland ... the return would be a worry, with 136 new identified cases in Algarve in the last 10 days ... in a population equivalent to around 8% of Scotland .. ie 1650 equivalent cases .. this is not good.

I would not trust the Scottish figures issued to-day since they always
say these may not be accurate due to the week-end or words to that effect.
Considering the importance that is placed on the "daily" figures and the current situation we are in, it is beyond my understanding why accurate information cannot be provided on a Monday.

About a third of all cases in the Algarve relate to that party near Lagos two weeks ago and two instances among groups of migrant farm workers living in insanitary and overcrowded conditions. ( No shame therefore on the part of of the owners, obviously, but that's another matter!)

Removing them from the numbers gives an infection rate of about 0.1% of the Algarve population. If the Dutch, Germans, Swiss etc are confident enough to come here, what's stopping the British? Ah, the 14 day quarantine when you get back!

Today's flight tally at Faro reads : Netherlands 3, Belgium 2, London 2, Dublin 1, Belfast 1

The Lagos party had this result, I think you'll understand it in Portuguese:

Festa de Lagos infetou 111 pessoas das quais 19 crianças com menos de 10 anos

Yeh seen this reported on the BBC news this morning. A list of countries where you won’t be needed to quarantine on return. Portugal and Sweden not on the list. Not good for Portugal.
FCO advise still in place.

If confirmed, that's my summer trips to see the people cancelled. Using a single statistical base for a large country is a rather crude approach though.
