Took a while for Brexit deal to bounce around   .. but it seems the big advance in vaccination is what is pushing us up to 1.13   ... hang on .. this might be a wee roll.

Given there is virtually zero demand for currency exchange at the tourist rate, the rate is probably going to fluctuate quite a bit while export and import markets in both directions get used to the new régimes.

Whilst its a bit  better than in recent past it's still far off the rate before the vote.
When it gets passed the €1.30 ish to £ we will be back to where we were before the Brexit fiasco

Do you remember when we could get €3 for £2?  Around 2,000 I think.

I bought an appt in Val Carros  2002 I think I got well  over 1.5. Even when I bought my villa in 2006/7 I was getting high 1.4's/low 1.5s I seem to remember getting close to parity 2009/2010 albeit only for short while before it recovered

The rate was around 1.45 € to £ when I bought my place in 2005. There was also a momentary peak at 1.44 in July 2015.

For a brief moment the rate actually fell to just below 1 for 1 in 2009.

This one shows it the other way round since 1999. Spot the peak in 2009 when it was almost 1 for 1 in the commercial markets, the tourist rate was probably 1 for 1 or worse at that time.

Euro coins and banknotes were first issued on Jan 1, 2002 ... when it was briefly 1.65 .. absolutely no chance of getting back much above 1.10 with the huge UK debt that has built up in the last year .. we might be lucky to get 1 for 1 again.

UK people won't need to spend Euros for a while anyway, with travel to Euroland likely to be banned for several months.

On my first visit to Albufeira in 1992 you were getting $240 escudos to the pound and in some bars it was $150 escudos a pint! Happy days which I doubt will never return!
