We were getting 1.16 using Halifax clarity hole in the wall card two weeks ago.
No charges and decent rate and saves leaving cash in the apartment.

You will still be able to spend them in Germany and France. The cost of changing currency would be so fantastically expensive that you wouldn't need money at all in southern Europe, as there will be nothing to buy

Nothing will change until governments stop spending money they do not have on 'vanity projects' and collect the taxes that people are not paying. And stop buying Chinese goods!

I will check the rate for cash tomorrow; it should be up a bit on recent days.

Watching the news tonight there seems to be a possibility that some countries may well be forced out of the Euro - Greeks going back to the Drachma etc. I usually have about €400 kicking about the house after I come back from hols - maybe I should spend them all before the whole thing comes crashing down - Escudos anyone? Wink

Forgot to check. Will remember tomorrow as I have a list of things to do now. Meanwhile, for those of you worried about falling value of the £, forthcoming Portuguese tax rises, motorway tolls etc that are going to ruin your holidays...woe and despond.
