Pah! My optimism was misplaced. Got soaked walking back from town earlier.

Here's rainy Albufeira as I walked home.

Cubby, there is not a soul in sight! The sun has buggered off for weeks and it has piddled down for weeks, has it got to the stage where Algarvians now talk about the weather on a daily basis like the English? It really is starting to be a home from home!!

We're coming over on Saturday so I hope it picks up a bit . Fed up of snow, wind and ice. A friend of mine who is a meteorologist says that all the rain you're having is down to El Nino now 'turning in the right direction'.
Who knows!

Lainey the weather should be a lot better when you are over in March. I too have got to put up with this cr=p stuff in UK until May Cry, unless I feel sorry for myself and book a flight for March.Smile We will see.
According to the weather forecast on my website the weather should change on the 10th Feb bringing that big yellow ball into the sky.

Still, even the rain has got to be better than the freezing cold snow/ice/winds we have here

Friday and it's another bright and sunny day - so far. Current temperature 11C rising to 14 or 15. There's a stiff breeze from the northwest, which is where the showers are coming from. The radar shows only a few small, isolated, blobs of rain unlike the massive dark areas of the past few days.

It will possibly rain later but fingers crossed.

The local forecast is expecting more rain tomorrow but clearing up throgh Sunday and Monday and perhaps a few dry days to come!

Hi Cubsur, I know the weather over there is indifferent but it is winter after all and the big difference between the UK and Portugal, at least you know you are going to get a summer !! I was over there last week and although it was over cast, the cherry blossom was on the trees and leaves and flowers out, we will have to wait another 2 - 3 months !   We will have the usual scenario for the Great British Summer,  9 months of anticipation, 3 months of dissapointment !!   Smile

Yes, everyone is getting weather obsessed around here. The combination of bad weather and poor exchange rates is keeping the Brits and Canadians indoors half the time. It is officially the wettest and coldest winter since 1945.

I think we have been spoiled in the three 'winters' I have lived here. It was the same in SE England - we didn't have winter for about 20 years then it comes back with a vengeance!

But what a difference a bit of sunshine makes! I might even get some washing done.

The ten day forecast has a glimmer of hope that the nasty weather will be gone around the middle of next week. We can look forward to some dry days and temperatures in the high 50's maybe even more!

Ahhhh, that's more like it. You only get rainbows where there is sun (and rain)! Pot of gold lies at the  end, was it any where near windmill hill Cubby?

Well that's the health centre in the foreground, looking north over the Calicos area.

It's another grey, damp and cold morning here in Albufeira. It's been raining during the early hours and there is more on the way. In fact it has just started raining quite hard as I type.

Current temperature 8C/46F rising to 13 or 14C, 55 - 57F maybe later today.

Wind still from the north-west, very light.

It might be a bit better tomorrow!

Sunday looks like a nice, dry, day!

Current temperature (9am) is 9C/48F and it is should reach 15 or 16 (60F) this afternoon.

There's a light wind from the west and, miracle, at the moment no rain showing on the radar. Definitely a day to hang out the washing early and get outside.

Have a nice day.
