There is no bus any longer between Albufeira and airport. It was already down to only three per day when it was stopped completely 18 months ago.

To get to Albufeira by bus, you first take the number 16 local bus from the airport to 'Terminal' ie Faro bus station. That bus runs runs every 30 - 60 minutes. The stop is outside the departure area under the concrete canopies, so from arrivals bear to your left and head across. Fare to town is €2,35 cash only.

From Faro to Albufeira the bus service is a shadow of what it was before the 'crisis'

As the 30th is a Saturday this is all you will have available unless by some miracle the local bus company actually decides it will run buses to suit the passengers. Check back later if you wish in case there is some improvement.

Fast Transrápido bus which takes 50 minutes only at 1230 and 1605. In Albufeira this only stops at the bus sattion which is outside the town centre.

Slow bus takes 90 minutes - 0630, 0815 then nothing for FOUR hours until 1215, then after than at 1430 and 1700. This bus runs through the main part of Albufeira town before going up the bus station.

At Faro bus station you buy your ticket inside the bus station at the ticket window before getting on the bus.

Good luck.

Albufeira,

I'm coming soon, I'm going to do something personal, and I'll take the opportunity to take a vacation. Seeing all your answers and pictures, I can't wait...

Just watched a video on you tube of the Albufeira Tourist Train. However instead of turning at Charlies Bar onto the street leading to the side of Ancora Bar , the train went onto the duel carriageway and past Clay Oven, Jinkys and turned into the road where the old Bullring was and the  Municipal Market onto Sta Eulalia and down to the bottom turning right at the Oura Hotel then past Ouratlantico, Wild N Co and down the hill toward Forte Do Vale. Does anyone know if this is a new route ? or is there roadworks etc on the old route ? Thanks in advance.
