Yes higher prices as less competition easy jet from international and air lingus from George best. Ryan Air using both forced the other 2 to keep prices low. Soon it will be drive to Dublin to fly out

What time do bars need to close at the moment? Is a UK vaccine certificate adequate to sit in a restaurant after 7pm of a Friday and over a weekend?

"What time do bars need to close at the moment? "

2am is latest closing time. Some sources say 1am but we understand it to be 2am, not that many places stay open that late anyway.

"Is a UK vaccine certificate adequate to sit in a restaurant after 7pm of a Friday and over a weekend?"

Yes.

Thanks for the update, Cubsur. We are due over next weekend. Is the resort much quieter than a usual year?

Fewer British of course, but plenty of people here from other countries plus Portuguese.  It's not been as busy as it was in 2019, but there are enough people here to keep the restaurants and bars in business.

Last September was very busy, although not quite as much as in "normal" years, I am expecting the same this year.

I was in Albufeira last September and it was DEAD !!! and looking at recent videos on youtube etc, it is very very very quiet once again. And it will likely stay this way until Covid Tests etc are a thing of the past.

Old town was decently crowded when I was there last night. The Strip seemed decent too at about 11pm. 200 meters away where I live, near the bullring I could as well be in the desert, occasional drunk group yelling and passing by but very deserted in general.

Cavern bar was full on Saturday afternoon and evening, less busy yesterday. I walked home through town from said establishment just after 8pm on Saturday and all the restaurants were very busy.

Some restaurants I noticed were closed yesterday lunchtime but that is not unusual. Certainly there are fewer people wandering aimlessly around the streets, but it's busy enough considering all the problems and extra expense British people have to deal with to come here.

Who wants to go to a place that is so crowded you can't get in anywhere?

Hi all. Can anyone give any advice on travelling from Northern Ireland to Faro in relation to covid tests, where is the best place to get them? What forms are required for the airport etc and any advice on the return back from Faro? Desperate for a break to Albufeira but finding the whole information online very confusing.

Ok. I am guessing you are double jabbed, if so you need the following…..

Travel to Portugal from Northern Ireland you need 3 things….
A negative test.
A vaccination certificate.
A Passenger Locator Card.

Being from good old Northern Ireland we always use ‘fit to fly’ plus ‘day 2’ test kits from Randox. You do the test and leave at Randox’s drop box in Antrim.

Travel to Northern Ireland from Portugal you need 3 things…..
A negative test.
A vaccination certificate.
A Passenger Locator Form.

We always use Aqualab in Albufeira for our return tests. There are loads of others.

Always google TRAVEL NI and click on the first site, it’s the NI government site and has all the details you need. Remember to treat Portugal as amber.

Thanks Bob.  Booking flights tonight Smile.  Checked out Aqualabs but they are closed at the weekends which is when we would need tested.  Has anyone used another company for the return to UK tests?
