He will no doubt find a way round it this time too.

Today the total arrivals from UK will be 13 of 46 flights scheduled.

Heathrow 3, Luton 2 and one each from Belfast, East Midlands, Newcastle,  Manchester, Stansted, Gatwick, Birmingham, Bournemouth and Leeds.

Off the top of my head I would say that is about a third of the number that there would have been in July 2019.

One benefit of empty skies is that most flights are arriving early.

There are two flights a week from Prestwick (Ryanair, 0725) .. three a week in August ... but the dodgy group have introduced charges for the cabin bag .. so on Tuesday, £45 for the flight, plus £24 for the cabin bag and seat .. anyone can have a small bag for underseat free ..

also Mon/Wed from Edinburgh (0640) ... + Friday from August ..

Easyjet re-start from Glasgow on Aug 1 ... Jet-2 looking also to start from Glasgow, Aug 1

From July there would normally be 75 to 90 flights from UK every day. Averaging about 15 at the moment.

So it is beyond their intelligence that some people will manage to find a way to travel the 170 miles between Lisbon and Faro to escape such restrictions.

That's roughly equivalent to banning London but allowing Blackpool.

Someone will have to keep a close eye on the API database so people don't lie about where they have come from.

Not that Algarve's tourist industry will mind all this a bit.

Fingers crossed
