I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

Browsing car hire priceson Zest for my next trip to Albufeira, a hire company called Centauro came up. Not the usual P4 pick up, but a shuttle bus. How far is their compound. Would I have to wait for other flights/passengers to turn up

From experience I wouldn't entertain a shuttle bus, it just adds 'processes' and therefore time, find the guide/rep, find the bus, load up, scrap for a seat, maybe wait, maybe not, drive.. if they say ten minutes read twenty five, queue off, collect bags, join the scrap amongst those on your bus (plus any others arriving same time), to get to receptionist...
Sorry to be negative but that is absolutely our experience, it's a major inconvenience and if it only adds an hour... you'll have done well, easily double that on most times we ended up with a 'shuttle', hence we will pay more now to avoid, the Zest database is so good everybody has to be competitive, to persuade you to take the inconvenience of a shuttle, those providers have to be cheaper, 'nuff said! |

I agree. We always hire where cars are on the airport and will probably be in Albufeira before some off airport hirers get going.
Haven't used Centauro. |

Just to add another choice for airport transfer - we never get a shuttle bus , takes too long , personally don't want to hire a car , taxi from airport too expensive so we get speedy shuttle - four stops -perfect !

Thanks for your views. I have decided to give Centauro a go. ( they do fair fuel also ) Mainly because they were the cheapest plus as they are off airport I won't be charged the 15€, saving me close to 35€.
Having had many times experience of picking up from P4, and waying up how long it's taken to be seen, do paperwork, shown to car. I think the meet and greet shuttle to compound would be the same if not less. I will do a report after I return. |
