Yes looks like the increase in cases and the pressure from devolved governments has put Portugal back into the Amber zone ! Ridiculous, flip flop again say as last year, they will collapse the tourism industry !!

Increase in cases! Not even 1% of the population is affected. The death of tourist travel is going to cost more in lives and money.

From next Tuesday, travel to Portugal is permitted from UK only for 'essential reasons' which does not include holidays.

Presumably it's not a problem this next four days, so why give several days warning? If it's though that bad here, why was the door not slammed shut immediately and all outbound flights cancelled??

There are dozens of flights due in today from UK. Presumably most will be empty with people being forced to cancel their trips.

Yet flights from India are still flying into London airports! Absolutely farcical...everyone's mood slumped yesterday when the news was announced 😖

Grant Shapps (thats the name he is using at present) gave the game away yesterday when he tied in this latest government move with Buffoon Boris`s 21st June announcement. We all know Buffoon doesn`t like to be associated with bad news so he leaves those announcements to others whenever possible. So come 21st June we can expect Boris to tell us all that he has saved the World by his quick decision making and that because of his greatness we can now mingle in pubs etc etc. IMHO and for no scientific reason, I have a feeling that overseas holidays will resume for UK citizens very quickly after the EU members Covid Vaccine passport is up and running. The Again ?

As I understood yesterdays news from the UK, people are still free to travel to Portugal even for holidays but have to self isolate for 10 days on return. Is that not the case?

Sadly they will be operating at about 20% capacity.

But full on the way back with reports that a single seat back to UK is costing around £1000. At least someone will benefit from the UK government decision.

Yet the Tories are still way ahead in the polls, unfortunately.

Flight Edinburgh - Faro on 10 June, back 17 June - £19.99 each way.  What a bargain.
It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams
