I've never seen the electronic booths working - I suspect they are for display purposes only.

Just a note on arrivals for anyone looking at this thread. Portugal stated that they would now allow UK travellers to use the automatic booths to speed up passport control but when we arrived not one of the was working at Faro airport.

"Do you still have to go through the same security queues as the international travellers?" There is only one route through security where you have to take off your shoes, belts and have your bagagge screened, no matter where you are going. But you avoid the queues for pre-flight passport checks that UK and Ireland bound travellers have to suffer. For domestic flights, TAP and the airport website advise being there minimum 90 minutes before departure. |

Thanks. That was what I thought was logical. Do know if they still want you 2 hours before the flight please?

If you are on an internal flight within the Portuguese borders , no , as you have already gone through the border !

we are using TAP. We have 2 hold bags but have checked in and got our boarding passes. Do you still have to go through the same security queues as the international travellers?

Depends on the airline you are using and whether you are checking in bags. Check in desks generally close 45 mins before flight time.
As cubsur often relates with his minute by minute accounts of his travels, 2 hours will fly by incredibly quickly if you have 30 mins queue at the check in desk and 30 mins at security. It's always a personal choice but I find it nice and relaxing to be there in good time and have time for some refreshments.
