As we are heading into the road works season, your intrepid correspondent braved the EN 125 from Faro to Albufeira this morning out of love for you, dear forummies - here is the transport news, live from the spare room...
All is good until you approach the turning for Vale Judeu, where they are creating the long expected roundabout, so there are lights there. Move on to just east of Maritenda (just after the M526 turn off - that's the road that goes past Kadoc) where the railway bridge is being re-built, the whole west bound lane is no longer there, so contra-flow means more lights. The Boliqueme roundabout is still not quite finished, no lights, few signposts and no road markings yet, but traffic flowing okay. East of Pata, as you come up the hill there are more lights where they may or may not be creating another roundabout, it's hard to tell, but they have certainly widened the road and there are a lot of very large concrete pipes stacked up next to the road. There does not appear to be much of a turning there to speak of, but that has not stopped the powers that be creating roundabouts-to-nowhere-in-particular elsewhere on the 125, so who knows. The railway bridge just east of the Albufeira/Ferreiras is also being rebuilt in a similar way to that at Maritendo, so again long delays at traffic lights for the contraflow. Finally a "roundabout" has been created out of those big plastic blocks at said Albufeira/Ferreiras turn off, replacing the lights. It's a bit of a confusing higgledy piggledy mess at the moment - I wish luck to the inexperienced driver approaching it. That's all from this bulletin of Algarve summer chaos, stay tuned for more road based madness. Meanwhile, back to the music. Here's Bachman Turner Overdrive. Lets Rock!

Yup, more or less the simplest thing. Although you could use the 526 and either turn left at Kadoc and head north via Boliqueme to jump on the motorway, thereby saving a whole €1.10 in tolls, or stay on the 526 and join the 125 just after the Maritendo bridge, then there will only be the Vale Judeu lights to contend with...

I remember reading last year when the original plan for the railway bridge was unfurled, that it might be necessary to close that stretch of road completely at night when no trains are running.

They were diverting traffic around the Maritendo bridge a few weeks ago when I went along there at night.

Turn left just before the hill leading up to the Maritenda bridge - the aforementioned Kadok turn. Then just keep going straight on until you come to the bullring roundabout, Bob.

yes, and will only get worse as they make the roundabout. best to turn towards vilamoura off en 125 and go over 2 (?) roundabouts then turn right at 3rd (?) and come out at bp opp kadoc. might not be quicker depending on the q but at least you keep moving
