As of 10th Feb 2021, you’ll only be allowed your usual free 56x45x25 carry on is if you pay for a upfront or extra legroom seat. If you’ve already booked a flight your carry on goes in the hold free.

If I have read their statement right you can still take hand luggage without purchasing a seat but with a reduced size of baggage of 45x36x20cm compared with 56x45x25cm.

And if I read between the lines correctly, overhead lockers will not be available to most passengers. Otherwise what's the point of saying that bags must fit under the seat in front?

We'll be fortunate if we have the same choice ofairlines once we're back to "normal". It's likely that they will all be looking for extra savings or charges.

Yes, we've had six Easyjet flights cancelled this year and two in 2021 as they've stopped their international flights from Newcastle. We've been using them several times a year since 2003.
The change in baggage rules wouldn't have affected us as we can't go anywhere without suitcases |

I wonder if the airlines are secretly sponsored by the Baggage Marketing Board? Every few years they alter the size of the bags, so we all have to go out and buy new ones...

You could spot this coming a mile away. For years passengers have travelled with hand luggage only and have pushed the limits and got away with over sized bags. Every single flight over the past few years there have been requests for passengers to put hand luggage in the hold as there is simply not enough room in the lockers anymore. This had to happen, I’m surprised it took so long.

well said bob d totally agree with you, there is always some passengers who will push to the limits and try to get away with it and spoil it for those who stick within the limits.
To me they Easyjet are obviously now trying to re-coop lost revenue and nothing to do with making boarding times more efficient like it says on their emails/website. Another airline sadly going like Ryanairs policy.
