The council of ministers held an extraordinary meeting today to discuss the lifting of restrictions as the vaccinated population exceeded 70% . Phase 2 will now be brought forward and start on Monday. In view of the data relating to the pandemic in Portugal, namely the evolution of the vaccination process – more than 70% of the Portuguese population is already fully vaccinated – the Council of Ministers decided to advance to the 2nd phase of the plan for the gradual lifting of restrictions. Thus, and as announced on July 29, the rules that will apply at this stage, specifically from August 23, 2021, are as follows: Restaurants, cafes and patisseries now have a maximum limit of eight people per group inside and 15 people per group on terraces; Cultural shows with 75% capacity; Events (namely weddings and baptisms) now have a maximum limit of 75% of the capacity; Public transport with unlimited capacity; Public services without prior appointment – only from 1st September. This is the second of the three phases defined by the Government in the Measures Survey Plan – they can be known in detail here . The next and final phase will come into effect when 85% of the population is fully vaccinated. https://covid19estamoson.gov.pt/levantamento-de.../ |

Jayjan, thank you for this info. Hope it keeps improving over the next few months as we are due to come over early October. As more and more people get vaccinated, the better things will be (we hope 😉)

One other item is that the mask wearing rules for outdoors will remain in place until 12th September.

No that rule stays in force for the time being. You can enter a restaurant at the weekend also if you present a valid negative test, adding €20 to your bill as it were. "
In regard to public transport does that include taxis?" It didn't say so specifically. I have not yet found anything concrete in other sources. |

Back here in N Ireland were having a spike highest positive cases on Thursday and sadly almost daily figures of people dying. The worst thing everyone in hospital setting shattered exhausted.I feel they will make us a red zone and countries will restrict movement from N Ireland. So looking forward to getting away total rest charge batteries as looking like a long winter for health staff. Stormont on a summer recession with little or no comments about latest figures

"What are the current rules on that?" Basically you must wear a mask anywhere indoors such as shops, offices and banks (except in your own home or apartment), on all public transport including taxis and at a restaurant or bar, except when actually seated and eating or drinking. You are also suposed to put on a mask when you cannot 'socially distance' on the street or when moving onto or off the beach. People do wear masks through choice even in rather unusual circumstances, such as when riding a motor scooter as such as I saw yesterday

Add the fact that Ryanair will cease operations at both of Belfast's airports from end of October. M.O'L wants more sweeties from Boris and Co. EasyJet will be delighted though.
