Hi All

Not sure which category to post in, or whether to post in several different ones!

We have visited Albufeira many times, but always in the summer. We are now planning to come first week in April, so just wanted to know what to expect in a few ways :-
  • Weather - Who can predict, but are we likely to at least get some warm sunshine?
  • Public Transport - Will the Giro and Taxis be running consistently?
  • Restaurants - Will it be difficult to find restaurants open? I guess it's been a tough time
  • Walking - It probably won't be beach weather, but does anyone know of any good resources for walking/hiking? Like OS maps in the UK perhaps?
Like I said, apologies for covering so much. I really would appreciate any info and advice you can offer?

Tony

Weather todat 21-22c and far hotter in full sun and it's onwards up upwards, so April normally very warm but is known as month of a 1000 showers but if it rains likely just short showers. Still chilly of a night and in the shade sometimes in the day

All public transport running - some bus routes have been curtailed with covid but plenty running and dont forget Uber for getting around

Been tough but reckon everywhere open by then. Even now the town is coming to life ready for the season.

Plenty sunbathing on beaches when weather as good as it has been the last 10 days or so.
As for walks other than beach, there is a nature reserve just west of Albufeira at salgados but pretty much anywhere away from all the concrete is good for a ramble.

"Public Transport - Will the Giro and Taxis be running consistently?"

The GIRO buses have maintaned the full service throughout the 'crisis' and continue to run normally. Buses to other towns remain reduced especially at weekends.

There's a great book of Central Algarve walks you can get at the tourist office just before you enter the tunnel at the tunnel/Peneco beach. It costs a whole 7€. You can also walk tbe coastal cliff path, say from the Marina, up the São Rafael Road, then you can go as far as your legs can take you, to Galé stop for lunch and walk or uber backs depending on how your legs feel. If you need any more info give me a shout.

Thanks for this. The book sounds promising, as does the coastal path.
