LAST WEEK'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES
Liga Bwin Arouca 1 - 0 Portimonense att 1791. Portimonense fall to 12th of 18 teams with 35 points from 32 games. Their next game is on Saturday night, ko 2030hrs, against Sporting CP. A guaranteed sellout to Sporting fans based down here. Liga Sabseg Farense 1 - 2 Chaves att 2584. Looks like a fun Saturday morning with ten bookings and Farense having two players sent off within a minute early in the second half. Chaves won it with a goal in added time at the end. Chaves now stand second in the league, one point behind leaders Rio Ave with two games remaining. Farense are 11th. Their next game is also at home, on Sunday afternoon ko 1400hrs against Varzim, who are next to bottom and must win or be relegated. CAMPEONATO DE PORTUGAL SECOND PHASE PROMOTION GROUP Moncarapachense 0 - 0 Fontinhas Pêro Pinheiro 0 - 0 Sertanense Os Belenenses 3 - 0 Olhanense Os Belenenses top the table, 12 points from six games, then come Fintainhas with 11 and Moncarpachense with 9. Olhanense are well bottom, only 2 points and nothing now to play for. Next Sunday Moncarapachense travel to Serta, needing a win. The top two meet at Fontainhas. CAMPEONATO DE PORTUGAL SECOND PHASE RELEGATION GROUP L Imortal Albufeira 2 - 1 Louletano Imortal stay up! Final game next Sunday Louletano v Lagos at the Algarve Stadium ko 1700hrs / 5pm Louletano are doomed, relegated to the Algarve League. Which will give the Algarve FA a problem as their B team are in Division One of that League. Lagos will remain in the Campeonato for next season. ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE Farense B 1 - 2 Lagoa Louletano B 0 - 1 Os 11 Esperanças Ferreiras 1 - 1 Almancil Silves 1 1 Lusitano VRSA Culatrense 2 -2 Quarteirense 1937 Internacional Almancil 0 - 0 Guia Quarteira SC 1 - 0 Odiáxere Ferreiras are top with 51 points from 23 games, then come Culatrense on 47. Three games to play, it's a two horse race now for the title and promotion. Only one team goes up. According to assorted websites, there are no games scheduled for next Saturday! Why ever not? Armacanenses are second, four points ahead of Portimonense B in third. The final games are next Saturday at 1900hrs / 7pm. Paderne v Portimonense B Bensafrim v Messinense Alvor v Maritimo Olhanense 4 ao Cubo v Carvoeiro United Campinense v Quarteirense Armcanenses v Sambrasense WOMEN'S FOOTBALL National League Division 2 second phase relegation group Setubal 1 - 3 Guia Guia are second of six teams but a long way behind Benfica B. Safe from relegation. Next Sunday Guia play their final game of the season, which will be at home to Alverca ko 1600hrs / 4pm at Ferreiras FC TAÇA NACIONAL FEMININA PROMOÇÃO Fazendense 4 - 6 Ferreiras This is some sort of cup competition wihich is now in its semi final stage. I cannot find any fixtures. |

Some good news emerged last night. Portimonense will remain in Premier League for next season. The bottom 3 either lost or drew which means Portimonense can't be caught. Had a great first half of the season but the second half was woeful. Must admit the standard of football in the league was poor this season compared to other seasons. The officiating borders on the bizarre. Some utterly ridiculous decisions, I m sure the refs are paid by the number of cards shown in a match. As previously stated Sporting arrive on Saturday and expect nothing than a 4 nil defeat and a red card.

Latest in the long history of Portuguese fixture mysteries ....
At 3pm yesterday, Louletano 5-1 Lagos [probably brought forward from Sunday in order to ensure there were no spectators at all!]. As a result of this scoreline, Louletano finish bottom and are relegated back to the Algarve League. Not very often will one see the team with the best goal difference in the division go down.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES
Liga Bwin Portimonense 2 -3 Sporting CP att 3903 not even a sellout! Sporting will finish second come what may. FC Porto are champions following their 1- 0 win at Benfica. Portimonense are 12th and will finish there or thereabouts depending on the results of the final round of matches next weekend. Portimonense will travel to Madeira to play Marítimo. There are four teams in the mire of possible relegation, all depending on their final game. Liga Sabseg Farense 0 - 1 Varzim att 2376 Farense went behind in the second minute then had Elves Baldé sent off on 31 minutes. Varzim desperately needed the points, but will still either face direct relegation or a playoff to avoid it. In next week's final game, Farense travel to Coimbra to play the once grand Académica side, bottom of the league and doomed to Third Division Football next season. CAMPEONATO DE PORTUGAL Promotion Group South Fontinhas 2 -1 Os Belenenses Serta 0 - 1 Moncarapachense Olhanense 2 - 2 Péro Pinheiro Three games to go and it is tight at the top. Moncarapachense are third on 12 points, behind Os Belenenses on goal difference with Fontinhas at the top with 14 points. The others are out of the running. Next Sunday Fontinhas v Olhanense ko 12noon Os Belenenses v Serta 1700hrs / 5pm Moncarapachense v Péro Pinheiro 1700hrs / 5pm Relegation Group L The final meaningless game was moved to Saturday at short notice, Louletano beat Lagos 5-1. As reported last week, Imortal Albufeira stay up. ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE There were no games on Saturday for reasons unknown. Next Saturday at 1700hrs / 5pm Lusitano VRSA v Quarteirense 1937 Lagoa v Ferreiras Os 11 Esperanças v Farense B Quarteira SC v Culatrense Almancil v Silves Odiáxere v Internacional Almancil Guia v Louletano B Ferreiras are four points ahead of Culatrense, who themselves ar e five points above Silves. Only one team goes up, so it is two horse race with three games to go. The FA has announced that the bottom two teams in Division One will be relegated at the end of the season. Currently these are Farense B, bottom and already doomed and Quarteirense 1937. If the latter beat Lustitano VRSA next week, the two will be level on points. The three teams above those need to win a couple also, ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION TWO The final round of matches. Quarteirense had already been crowned champions. Os Armancanenses 1 - 0 Sambrasense Bensafim 1 - 0 Messinense Paderne 2 - 2 Portimonense B Alvor 4 - 0 Marítimo Olhanense Campinense 0 - 0 Quarteirense 4 ao Cubo 3 - 5 Carvoeiro United Os Armcanenses finished second, Portimonense B third. WOMEN'S FOOTBALL Division Two second phase relegation group Guia 1 - 1 Alverca Final game of the season for Guia, who finished second in the group and will therefore once again play in National Division Two next season. Farense also lost Pedro Henriques to a second yellow card at the final whistle, thus reduced to nine men.
Had a quick look at their disciplinary record in Liga 2 ........ so far 12 sent off compared with just 2 from the opposition.  Needs to improve methinks.

Ferreiras are confirmed as champions of the Algarve League with two games to spare. A shock 4-0 defeat of Culatrense by Quarteira while Ferreiras won 2-0 at Lagoa, means dancing in the streets of Ferreiras next Satuday when they play the 11 Esperanças in their penultimate game.

Down at the bottom, Tondela and Belenenses are relegated, Moreirense must go into a playoff against Chaves, who finished third in Division 2, the Liga Sabseg. Champions FC Porto plus Sporting qialify for the Champions League, Benfica must enter the qualifying rounds. Braga and Gil Vicente will play in the Europa Conference League qualifiers. Liga Sabseg Académica Coimbra 0 - 0 Farense att 658. A sad day for the home team, once a good top level team they finished bottom and their 30,000 seat stadium will now host Third Division matches. Farense finished 11th with 41 points. Rio Ave (near Porto) and Casa Pia (near Lisbon) are promoted. Chaves, finishing third, will go into a playoff against Moreirense as mentioned. Campeonato de Portugal promotion Group 2 Moncarapachense 0 - 0 Olhanense Sertanense 3 - 1 Fontinhas Pêro Pinheiro 0 - 3 Os Belenenses One game to play Fontinhas are top, 17 points then Os Belensenses on 16 and Moncarapachense also on 16, but with an inferior goal difference. Next Sunday, final game Fontinhas v Pêro Pinheiro Os Belenenses v Moncarapachense Olhanense v Sertanense ko 1400hrs a 'dead rubber' The equation is simple. Moncarapachense need to win to finish in the top two and gain promotion. If it's a draw and Fontinhas lose, that would not be enough. Fontinhas beat Moncarapachense in the first game and the second game between the two was a draw. ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE Ferreiras are already champions and promoted to the Campeonato.  a little bit of Algarvean success at the seasons end .....Os Belenenses 0-1 Moncarapachense, a second half goal this afternoon was enough to promote the locals into next seasons Liga 3. Fontinhas join them. Liga 3 looks like a national division split into two halves. Whichever group Moncarapachense are allocated to will ensure plenty of costly travelling.
