Imortal's season will begin on 29th August with a home game against Louletano. Then no more league games until 19th September away to Serpa, then another long gap until 3rd October, home to Juventude Évora. 12th September is set aside for the first round of the FA Cup. The first phase ends on 6th March. I will have the full fixture list typed up asap.

Fixtures now up at http://www.algarvebus.info/imortal.htm Note only one game in September and that is way up in the wilds. Olhanense away at the end of November, a nice afternoon out if it's possible to get there and back on the same day.

Correction to above. Allianz Cup second round on Sunday 1st. Not announced on official websites until later! Farense v Santa Clara [1530] Boavista v Portimonense [ 2030] Not known whether spectators will be admitted. If they are, a valid EU health certifcate or valid negative antigen test is needed to gain entry to the stadium. |

Earlier this month it was commented that Ryan Gauld could be on his way out of Farense, to Vancouver Whitecaps. An announcement was released today that E300k had changed hands to confirm the deal.

£300K! You wouldn't get a moderate left back's big toe for that in the general European market. Shows what desperate straits the local teams are in. Anyone who is desperate for a fix of live football can go to the Farense game this afternoon provided they have a valid EU approved health pass or who are willing to fork out €20 for the test at the stadium. Self tests etc are not acceptable. I cannot find ticket prices but I doubt would be more than €10, so paying twice that amount simply to be declared fit and healthy is not something I would choose to do. Capacity is limited to one third of the 12,000 seats, which will not be a problem since 4,000 is about double the average for the season before last.

Goalshy Farense tumble out of the Allianz Cup today.
Farense 0-0 Santa Clara with the visitors going through on penalties. The locals managed to miss all three of their attempts, hence a threenil defeat. Next up Portimonense later this evening.

Boavista 2-0 Portimonense.
A goal in each half was enough to send Portimonense out. As has become the yearly norm, no local interest remains in this Cup.

'Crowds' - 461 at Farense, 1061 for Boavista v Portimonense. The latter looks like it was a typical Portuguese game, 46 'fouls committed' and seven bookings. The league begins next weekend, sort of. In the Liga BWin Portimonense travel to Vítoria Guimarães on Sunday afternoon, but the demands of TV require Farense to wait until Tuesday for their trip to Leixões.

300k for Bryan Gauld. An absolute bargain. The contract being offered by the Whitecaps probably was the main reason for joining. Three year contract and believed to be a million Canadian dollars a year. He will need it if he wants to live in Vancouver.
Wish him well. |

That's maybe ten times what he would have been on at Farense, possibly more. 1 million Canadian is about €675,000 A decent wage for most, but for the real superstars, hardly worth getting out of bed for though.

Currently back in the UK but still find it incredible the money being offered to players. Wages of 300k a week now seems to be the norm in the Premiership.
Have heard that Paul Mullins ( who you ask ), was the leading goalscorer in League 2 last year with Cambridge United. Numerous Championship and League One clubs were after him. Eventually signed for Wrexham in the National league ( 5th tier ). Allegedly, he is on 250k a year and signed a three year contract. Wrexham have now got Hollywood backers. Yet you here clubs are really on the brink of collapse. Nothing makes sense. Hopefully will be back for the start of the Algarve League to watch Silves and will make a few visits to watch Portimonense. |

Great win for Portimonense today. V G missed a couple of absolute sitters but Beto flicked home the winner. 8 minutes of so called extra time. Good start from the team from the Algarve.

Official website says 11 minutes added in second half. That's the kind of trick normally played if Benfica, Sporting or Porto are not winning. Crowd 8224, almost as many as currently permitted under law. Farense play tomorrow night.
