Processional caterpillars are on the march. Seen at Quinta da Balaia earlier  If you don't know about them, do not touch. They also have a nasty habit of dropping out of trees.

The plant is apparently one of these - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agave_americana It flowers only once , towards the end of its thirty year lifespan, which is maybe why we don't see it very often in this form.

More than two dozen turtles were under the car park bridge at the Saldagos
Lagoon today competing with wildfowl and fish for food. Most of the turtles are larger than dinner plates.

There weren't any turtles to be seen the other day when I was there. Perhaps they were still asleep! On the subject of food, where's my dinner?  Ah here comes mummy!  Yesterday at the railway station.
