Such rentals are rarely available as owners can make a great deal more money with short term tourist lets.  Even when they are, it is extremely unusual to see 'open air' advertisements. I cannot remember the last time I saw one.

I had a look at one of the large local estate agents websites. Nothing at all near the old town, nearest was Corcovada (3km) , €600 a month.

Why not have a look at some of these http://albufeira.com/real-estate-agents

Some have websites but these are not directly listed.

You haven't said the dates you're looking for an apartment? this will help the destination expert give you the best advice.
