The address is on the website but no phone number for that office. They only list the call centre numbers at http://www.edp.pt/pt/Pages/LinhasEDP.aspx

Ah but when you take into account the average wage in Portugal, the cost is a higher percentage.

My electricity bill is around €43 a month when I am here. That's everything except hot water, which is gas. As I said, my location and big front window means I rarely hve any heating on.

In 2016 we have been in Portugal for a total of 22 weeks.
When we are there we use electric heaters and air con (cooling & heating) as required - normally we aim to keep the place in the range 20 to 22.
When we are not there we leave a fridge and a freezer running
This year (2016) our total electric bill has amounted to 697 Euro.
Our gas bill over this period has been 106 Euro - gas is only used for cooking & heating water.
Total energy cost therefore was 803 Euro (or £669 at 1.20 exchange rate)

In 2016 we've been in the UK for 30 weeks.
Again, we have on what we need to keep warm & while were away we leave a fridge & a freezer runing.
In the UK we use gas for cooking, heating water and central heating.
Our total gas & electric bill for 2016 has worked out at £851.

Other equipment used (TV's, PC's, washing machine, tumble dryer etc) is pretty similar although we do not have a dishwasher in Portugal (other than me).
Our UK property is approx double the size of our Portugal property and we spend more time indoors in the UK than we do in Portugal.

So based on a weekly rate for the number of weeks occupied per location our expenditure works out as follows -

Portugal - £669/22 weeks = £30 per week
UK - £851/30 weeks = £28 per week

In a way yes, but with temps at 12c recently, and often for a few months, heating is needed at night then the cost of ac in summer. reading various forums its amazing how many people are not equipped for either the hot or cold in your home - being able to get a 1 euro pint and a meal for 5 euros is more important than a comfy home. As Pete says, in the myriad words in small letters it says you have the right to change suppliers if you wish. You do of course have to go out and find one and for me, with an estimated monthly increase of less than 1 Euro, not worth the effort.

This nice weather is saving me more than that by not having to put any heating on.

Only if you have a degree in reading small print and I think most people have 'stuck with the devil you know' as the price differences are not that great. One think edp is doing is called 'funciona' or similar and for small amount each month you get x% off your bill which more than covers the small monthly cost in most cases but this gets you review, help and repair of domestic appliances. Similar thing for my restaurant and what i save by them 'doing' my fire extinguishers each year more than covers the whole yearly cost and i still get a good % off my bill and the review and repair service.
