No street party. The cynics here will say 'liberated to what'?

Holidays here are now the same as in the UK. All the shops are open, DIY centres etc etc only the banks, post offices, schools and public sector generally get the day off, so all those previously oppressed masses that should be celebrating will be working.

Just Googled the Portuguese revolution.  Almost bloodless which is remarkable.  I first visited Portugal (and Spain) in '64, 10 years before the revolution.  The number of guns around surprised me, whether army or police I couldn't tell.  Times are difficult for Portuguese at the moment but they have a lot to be proud of.

There might be a bit of a parade, and a few fireworks, but nothing really special. They are rubbish at publicising what is going on.
