Quick update - the total raised has just gone past €7500 and is still climbing. Look out for more reports both here and in local news media. Thanks to those who sponsored us taking part.

The money raised is being used to buy face masks for each fireman (currently each mask is shared between 6 & 8 firemen!!!) They are also buying personal tracking units so when a fireman goes into dense smoke in a forest or building and gets into difficulties the controller can send help immediately to the right area. When a forest fire can be over many acres this is a massive time saver and could save lives As Tom said thank you to all who have contributed so far but we would be grateful for any extra donations Thanks Richard |

Thought it was a bit sparse
 . Had to make a visit to Bombeiros to appease Grandaughter regarding fire engines. Where we were lucky enough to meet some very nice accommodating people. |

Hi all I am delighted to confirm that Balaia Bowls Club raised €7966.30 for the Albufeira Bombeiros at our 24 hour bowls marathon. This was a magnificent achievement and our thanks are due to all those that generously donated to this worthy cause. This is in addition to over €1100 we gave them earlier this year making over €9000 year to date. Tonisdad - yes they are a great bunch there - I hope to take my grandson there when he's a bit bigger to see real fire engines!!! Just a quick note to say that the total is being boosted by bits and pieces still coming in and has passed €8000. This is more than double the anticipated amount. A substantial sum has already been passed to the Bombeiros for the purchase of face masks, personal radios and tracking devices, none of which they currently have in sufficient quantity for everyday needs. From Balai Bowls Club chairman Richard King - Well
we did it – we have raised just over €10000 this year for the Bombeiros,
thanks to a collection pot at the Wander Inn pushing the total this
year to €10,055!!! We thank all those who contributed, sponsored and took part themselves. The formal presentation of the monies raised at the 24 hour bowls marathon took place at the club earlier today.
