Last Sunday a grass fire broke out towards Armacao de Pera and the turnout of the bomberos was accompanied by a helicopter dropping water on the blaze. It used the lagoon at Salgados as a water source.  ------------- Colin |

I am suprised only that we don't have more, given it is so dry and has been so hot. There was a fire up in the hills near Monchique on Monday during which the Portimão brigade lost one of its applicances to the flames. All the fire engines in Albufeira were rushing about somewhere yesterday as well. A fire near Algoz was recorded at https://fogos.pt/" rel="nofollow - https://fogos.pt/ a very handy website if you think there's something going on near you. If it's red, it's in progress and not yet put out. Had a text from MEO yesterday reminding people to be vigilant and not to chuck their fag ends out of their car window. Stating the obvious and it's illegal anyway, but at least they are being public spirited. People are still stupid enough to do it though...
