There is a fast car rally in the town centre next Sat and Sun .. 22/23 Oct ... roads will be closed in Albufeira, Ferreiras and Paderne.... and the town car park. ------------- Pyrman |

Here's the official poster. The main road across town will be closed on Saturday night from 1900hrs between LIDL and the 'Watches' roundabout. The car park opposite the town hall etc will be closed also all weekend as mentioned above. On Sunday the street Rua do MunicÃpo in front of Modelo shopping and the Brisa Sol will be closed between 0930 and 1030 and again betweeen 1130 and 1230. Anyone planning to drive on Sunday morning along the N395 between Albufeira and the A22 etc should find another way. ------------- Albufeira Resident www.algarvebus.info public transport information for the Algarve |

It's a small world. I'm a Mitsubishi evolution X owner and a member of an evolution owners club and I think it was this guy who I was speaking to when he joined the club,he was telling me about his evo's and the peri peri restaurant and said he would take me out in one of the cars if I was ever over his way.If I'd have known this last night I would have spoken to him. It certainly is, one and the same, and the pic he's posted is taken in their car park. There must be good money in piri piri, as there's other automobile exotica there as well! Worth a trip if you're into motors and the Piri piri we reckon is just the best anywhere, there's others come close like Ramirez but we reckon Theodosio is top one. ------------- Andrew |

Hope you enjoy, it's a massive restaurante and they don't hang about, feel free to tell your waiter to slow it down, unless you are in a rush, otherwise you'll have food on your table about four minutes after arriving! Back to the Evo's... Let me see if I can find a pic... ------------- Andrew |

Certainly was, at Stafford, an ex airfield. Was good but I prefer these days when it's wet, far more exciting when it's slidy, slidy... Even if the speed is a bit down. I'm a Roger Clarke fan and as his first autobiography was titled "Sideways to victory" is my love of car driving, give me a Mk2 rear wheel drive Escort in the wet, mud, snow... I've spent many many hours in the "wet, mud, snow" when I used to follow the round Britain RAC rally. Never missed a year in places like the forests of Kielder, Hamsterley, Grizedale, etc. Saw some great cars and drivers in everything from dust to mud and serious snow/ice. I've been there and rwd is good fun,but i do love the immense grip that evo's have to offer,hence why I'm now on my 4th and the mrs is after one,the speeds my X can carry through a corner is bonkers,to the point you wouldn't think it's possible without crashing. I'm thinking of driving over to the algarve in it some time,but I dread to think the fuel cost

Touché both of you. I travelled the country following the RAC, the Welsh, the Scottish... I have so many pics, stories.. As all the drivers were so approachable. Happy days. Yes, love the grip, I do appreciate that but as an average driver, I must be, to be in control of something sliding says to me it's me, I'm in control, when admiring somethings grip, it's the machine, still great fun but I prefer slip slidy. I have a pic of me in a 911, all the girly buttons turned to off in driving rain and at just 60/70mph it was so much fun, real driving, love it! ------------- Andrew |
