Hi all

I play for a sunday league team called AFC Sharrow in Sheffield. We are looking to create affiliations with other adults amateur teams across Europe to play friendly matches against when COVID-19 is over. Does anyone know about any equivalent amateur teams who'd be interested in hosting us in July/August 2022?

Thanks,
Eddy Woolfe

Try Sharky's bar at Albufeira marina - have a facebook page and contact is Chris. Also get in touch with Gary at Algarve football tours. Browns sports club in Vilamoura may also be worth a shout.

Algarve Football Tours is a very good place to go to find out what's available across the region.

However, there is little football played here during July and August. It is too hot.

Gary at Algarve Football Tours does have contacts with local clubs whose grounds have floodlights and where games can be played in the relative cool of the evening. Many pitches are artificial turf. There is almost no 'Sunday League' type football played in the Algarve. Any matches during July and August would be more than likely against scratch teams formed of a mix of ex-pats and local 'veterans'. The lowest level of regular football is at about the level of a UK county league. Players do stuff like go training two or three times a week. Not exactly football before pub!

In past years end of season tours in May have been popular and it's often been possible to arrange mini tournaments between assorted teams, mostly from UK.
