Does anyone know if (and when) there are any English Clubs playing pre-season games in The Algarve again this summer?

You could try to follow   http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?forum=32;
which lists just about all games ... unfortunately, only by individual date, so you have to check them all.

Cubsur usually gets wind of anything in the Algarve ...

The first I knew...from the local English news.... that Boro were playing for definite pre-season last year was about 2 weeks before the first game.
€10 to watch at Ferreiras free at Vila Real De Santo Antonio.
I think the Ferreiras lot knew there was several hundred Oxford fans attending and decided to make a killing.

They won't normally confirm the pre-season games until the ink is dry on the contracts. I haven't anything yet, but will update as and when information becomes available.

Ferreiras did indeed charge €10 which is the most I have heard of for any pre season game. Most are €5 if that. 'Training games' have to be free if clubs are going to use multiple subs, UEFA and FA rule apparently.

Algarve league games are €2,50 ie not even the price of a pint.

I shall keep my eyes and ears open as to venues and opposition, but any info gratefully received. As I said , it's often hard to pin down details until almost the last moment.

I will be here as it's the last few days of the World Cup, so not going anywhere until that's ended.

What a berk.....I meant Tuesday 10th and Friday 13th of July, of course. LOL

I will add that all these games will be at night because of the heat. Unless you are staying within walking distance or sensible taxi distance of the venues (when announced) you will need a car as local transport stops at around 8pm.

Our games over there have now been confirmed. The Club's official website says....

News of the fixture comes after  https://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/articles/2018/201718-portugal-pre-season-fixtures-confirmed/" rel="nofollow - the Tigers last week confirmed that they will play two games in Portugal  as part of a week-long training camp on The Algarve.

Admission prices have now been confirmed for the games against C.S. Maritimo and S.C. Braga on Tuesday 10th and Friday 13th July respectively. Entry to Estadio da Nora in Albufeira, the venue for both matches, will be priced €10 for adults and €5 for U16s. Please note that tickets will not be available in advance of these fixtures.

Roll on July! Smile

Estadio da Nora is in Ferreiras, about 3 miles outside Albufeira. Easy to get to by car, taxi or bus. Both games ko at 7pm / 1900hrs

(What if England should be in a World Cup semi final that same night??)

On the other hand there is NO public transport of any kind at the Algarve Stadium for Wrexham v Louletano, so you must make your own arrangements to travel from any resort town. Many of the airport transfer minibus companies are able to take bookings for an out and back. That one Wednesday, 11th July 2018 with a 7pm kick-off

I can offer transport suggestions should you wish.

Didn't realise they had any internationals at the world cup. I stand corrected.

Well done sir. Looks very comprehensive and well organised. Enjoy your visit.

Ps there isn't usually any bar open at the Estadio Algarve for such games and there is nothing else within a mile. Hope you can survive!

Games at the Estadio Municipal : Benfica "B" play Orient Saturday at 19.30 and Braga play the scum Sunday at 20.00. Should the unmentionable happen on Sunday afternoon, I pity the police having to control a bunch of drunken Milwall thugs that night...

SC Braga 4 Hull City 1

Hull took a bit of a footballing lesson and their two XI's were well beaten by a very useful looking Braga outfit. Brief match report and pictures at https://www.hullcitytigers.com/

Braga's forward, number 20 João Paulo Dias Fernandes (Paulinho for short), looked especially useful.

Crowd about 350.

Some pictures I took.

The local birds were not at all put off by the thundering feet.

A sprawling save denied one of Hull's few chances.

A desperate challenge fails to prevent Braga's third.

Not exactly pre-season..... but the better locals are kicking off their League Cup campaigns.

Farense have already sneaked through the first round, on penalties. They are next at home to fellow Segunda league Estoril on Sunday the 29th, 5pm.

Portimonense have to wait until Sunday the 5th, 4pm at home to fellow Primeira division  Rio Ave.

Cool

The League Cup is now basically an U23 competition. The crowd at Farense last Saturday was 851. Thanks to Lofters for the information.

Portimonense lost 2-0 to Lille in their pre season game on Wednesday night. Video highlights at http://www.portimonense.pt/sad/noticia.php?id=10809" rel="nofollow - http://www.portimonense.pt/sad/noticia.php?id=10809

I am keeping a watch out for the first league fixtures. The first matches are going to be between 10th and 13th August but as as yet the TV companies have not yet decided the kickoff times. I will do the usual as and when information is available.

Farense bit the dust yesterday, going down 0-2 at home to Estoril.
On the plus side, crowd was 2062. Very encouraging for them as last season, even in a successful promotion campaign, they averaged not much more than 500.

It's going to be hard season for them I think. Their league fixtures didn't show any Wednesday afternoon home games until January, so for me getting to see them play won't be too easy this time.

Well, that's that for the Algarves contribution to the League Cup!

Yes, a less than auspicious start to the season but it was the under-23's most of whom won't be getting another game unless sent on loan. The real stuff begins a week tonight, see other post.
