Hi, I'm currently living just outside Lagos, I've managed to find fixtures and get to Ferreiras and Louletano, but couldn't find anything about the algarve league. Does anyone have a link to the complete fixtures or in particular Lagos and Odiaxere. Hopefully I can make it over to Imortal next weekend but I want to do some more local games if possible.

Thanks, Andy.

If you can read some Portuguese there is an excellent website for all things football called "zerozero.pt" - on the RH sidebar the word "distritais" will appear - behind this are all the various district league fixtures for the whole country (once released) - if you select "AF Algarve" and then "Seniores" you will get to the full fixture detail you are looking for

Yeah I've tried that, unfortunately it directs to the youth league at present.

http://www.afalgarve.pt/index.php/futebol-distrital/sen-1-div

Kickoff times are normally 3pm on Saturday (except at Guia, where they always start at 4pm) but any changes are not normally confirmed until the Tuesday prior.

These can also be found on the AF Algarve website but not on that page. Changes to kickoffs particularly apply to the teams in Faro who share grounds ie Culatrense, Faro e Benfica and the 11 Esperancas.

On my holidays in August when driving through Faro we passed a university and there was a stadium there with 1 stand as far as I could see. Does a local team play there?

There is a small stadium at Penha, near that University campus on the north side of the city, where a couple of teams have played in the past. That might be the one, I've been there myself. There was once a team based at the University itself but that folded long ago.

I was looking but find there is no comment/report on the Olhanense/Farense game from Wednesday?

All I know is Farense won 3 - 1 and Olhanense had a man sent of early in the first half.

Wednesday results from the Segunda Liga (I was ill yesterday, bad cold, hence delay.)

Olhanense 1 Farense 3 attendance 1778. This was the first competitive match between the local rivals for ten years.

Olhanense did indeed have a man sent off after just 16 minutes, having managed to get himself booked twice in three minutes, the second one for handball in the penalty area. Farense equalised the home side's 3rd minute goal from the resulting penalty. Despite the 'keeper saving the initial shot the rebound was put in. Farense made it 2-1 by half time and scored again from the spot after 70 minutes to make it 3-1.

There is a short match report in Portuguese at http://www.regiao-sul.pt/noticia.php?refnoticia=148979

Seems there was trouble in the stadium and numerous 'hot' moments. There were seven other players booked.

Portimonense 2 Porto B 0 attendance 406

Two second half goals for the Algarve side.

After these games, the 9th of the very long season,  Farense are now in 6th position, Olhanense slip to 10th and Portimonense are 12th, although they have a game in hand.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Porto B 7 - 0 Olhanense attendance 290

Ouch! Olhanense were already three down when defender Bastos was sent off on 55 minutes. There followed a deluge.

Beira Mar Aveiro 1 - 3 Portimonense attendance 685 (in a 30,000 seat stadium)

Three goals within five minutes midway through the second half for the Algarve side maintained their recent good form.

Farense 1 - 1 Guimarães B attendance 1122

Farense would have gone second in the table has they won, but instead are sixth, one place above Portimonense who have a game in hand. Olhanense slip to 12th after a run of only one win in five.

Next weekend

Sunday 12th October ko 1100am (for live TV) Portimonense v Santa Clara. I wonder how many will drag themselves out of bed for that one!

No game for Farense and Olhanense owing to the international matches.

Campeonato Nacional Seniors group H 1st phase

Operário Lagoa     4-2     Aljustrelense
Quarteirense     1-2     SC Praiense
Lusitano VRSA     0-4     Louletano
Angrense     1-2     Ferreiras
Moura     1-0     At. Reguengos

A good win for Ferreiras who stay in second place. Louletano go up to third while Lusitano VRSA, still without a win, are bottom but have a game in hand. Quarteirense are seventh.

Games next Sunday, 12th October, in the Algarve

Louletano v Operário Lagoa (that's the one from Madeira) ko 1500hrs

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Portimonense 1 - 1 Santa Clara att 462. Looks like the local have given up already as crowds are down by 40% on last season's average. Portimonense are eighth in the table.

Olhanense and Farense did not play in a shortened programme.

NEXT WEEKEND

Is the third round of the Portugal FA Cup

Olhanense v Oriental, Saturday 18th at 1600hrs. Olhanense are the only Algarve team remaining.

Portimonense travel to Guimarães B for a League match that same day, while Farense travel to Benfica B.  Olhanense's league match is deferred until Wednesday 22nd when they will play Beira Mar Aveiro, kickoff 1600hrs.

CAMPEONATO NACIONAL SENIORES GROUP H

SC Praiense     4-1     Lusitano VRSA

Louletano     2-4     Operário Lagoa
At. Reguengos     1-2     Angrense
Ferreiras     1-2     Quarteirense

Not a good day for the Algarve, only winners being Quarteirense in a local derby. Ferreiras, Louletano and Quarteirense are 4th, 5th and 6th respectively, while Lusitano's struggles continue with five games played and only one point gained.

There are no matches in this League next weekend owing to it being a cup date, despite the fact that none of them are in it.

ALGARVE LEAGUE - second round of matches

Early days, but already only five teams are on maximum points. Almancilense top the table on goals scored, over Quarteira in second and Culatrense in third. Lagoa are fourth and surprise package Padernense are fifth.

Next Saturday confirmed times etc

Last weekend's results, next week's games

Portugal FA Cup 3rd Round

Olhanense 2 - 4 Oriental Lisboa. No doubt they put out their second team, but Olhanense wouldn't have expected to lose to a team one tier below them. There are no Algarve teams left in the Cup.

The next game for Olhanense is on Wednesday afternoon, a League match at home to Beira Mar Aveiro, ko 1600hrs / 4pm.

Segunda Liga

Vitoria Guimarães B 3 - 2 Portimonense att 1516
Benfica B 2 - 0 Farense att 873 (their highest crowd of the season!)

Those results leave Farense in 8th place and Portimonense 9th, both 17 points and are five off the leaders Freamunde. Olhanense are languishing in 17th place.

Next weekend, Portimonense will be at home to Benfica B for a Sunday morning game for live TV. Kickoff at 1115am. The same day, at 1745hrs, Farense will be at home to Chaves, also to be shown live on TV.  Olhanense will be away.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Group H

No matches were scheduled last weekend.

Next Sunday at 1500hrs in the Algarve

Lusitano VRSA     v     Ferreiras
Quarteirense     v     At. Reguengos

ALGARVE LEAGUE

Monchiquense     1-6     Almancilense
Mexilhoeira Grande     0-2     Quarteira
Armacenenses     2-4     Moncarapachense
GD Lagoa     1-1     Odiáxere
Farense B     2-0     Carvoeiro United
Imortal DC     0-3     Culatrense
Silves         0-0     Faro e Benfica
Guia         1-3     Esp. Lagos
11 Esperanças     1-0     Padernense

Almancil are top of the league, followed closely by Culatrense and Quarteira. All have won all three matches played so far.  Paderne are 7th, Imortal 15th and Guia 18th and bottom.

Next Saturdays games all ko 1500hrs

Quarteira     SC    v     Farense B
Carvoeiro United     v     11 Esperanças    at Estombar
Odiáxere         v     Armacenenses
Esp. Lagos     v     Imortal Albufeira
Culatrense     v     Mexilhoeira Grande    at Penha
Moncarapachense     v     Monchiquense at Olhão Municipal Stadium
Padernense     v     GD Lagoa
Faro e Benfica     v     Guia     at CAMPO HORTA DA AREIA-FARO
Almancilense     v     Silves

Yesterday afternoon

Olhanense 0 Beira Mar Aveiro 0

Just 369 fans turned out for the 4pm kickoff. That point, their first after four consecutive defeats, lifts Olhanense into 16th place, but only four points separate them from Sporting B in 5th place.
