To add to the one from Bob D that I posted earlier. these I took at lunchtime today.

One thing I haven't seen is the customary building permit or licence pinned to a wall. Whatever is being done is no doubt costing a fortune, so I wonder who is paying?

I have discussing elsewhere the date on which this might have been built. 1905 has been suggested from a reputable source. There is no dating evidence on the building, but one nearby has 1901 on it. Modern rebuilding, erosion and in one case near collapse has removed any evidence from other buildings in the same street.

I have seen some photo's taken in summer 1989 and and it appears that the building started to look a bit shabby eg a few tiles missing/broken and the wooden shutters not looking great and a cracked window ... but the place was still occupied so having a guess I'd say it was abandoned sometime in mid 90s

Rebuilding the interior has started. Difficult to get a shot through the fences but this show the new pillars going up.

Not much progress visible.

The posters at the front are just to show how wonderful the builders are. The tiled wall is still there, wrapped in steel.

Work continues. Reinforced decking is in place, concrete columns being formed inside. Someone is going to get a lot of work restoring the facade when the time comes.

The upper storey at the back is taking shape. There is not much see at the front.

Looks as though they're adding a story to the rear.  It'll be interesting to see how the front is finished off.
It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams

I was told yesterday by someone who lives nearby that Bonnie Tyler has bought it.

The front is subject to all kind of preservation orders so presumably will be restored to its previous appearance. We shall see.

I recall Bonnie Tyler played in Albufeira some time ago.  Does she have a connection with the town?  I think Sir Cliff appeared on stage with her.

A neighbour on the Cerro Grande also tells me Bonnie Tyler has bought one of the extremely  experience apartments being built above the Fishermans Harbour. Mmmmm, buying everywhere it seems. She did live near us on the Cerro Grande many moons ago but Pete is correct, she has a cracking Villa just outside town to the east.
