Bolt has somewhat better prices than Uber, usually noticeably lower. Current quote from bullring/new aldi to Vilamoura Marina is 12.07 euros.

And to give you an idea of Uber prices, we did the following journey the other weekend :-
Pateo (just west of Albufeira) to Vilamoura Marina on a Saturday lunchtime we paid €19.25 The return journey 6pm-ish (pouring with rain, so demand was high) was €16.35 |

It is about €5. We always pay cash, not sure if they have contactless, if you start your journey at the bus station then buy a ticket in advance.
Yes - the only way back is by private transport, I would get a transfer company to quote you for it, often cheaper than taxi/Uber.

I have looked at the website and can see buses running to Vilamoura, but I can't see for the life of me how much the fare would be from Albufeira. Any ideas, and can that be paid to the driver in cash or with contactless card perhaps?
Also, I guess a late night ride back to Albufeira would mean a taxi or Uber?

The new website also has a gizmo that shows you where the bus is and roughly how long you have to wait before it gets to your stop.

From 1st December the EVA and Frota Azul buses which occasionally run between Albufeira and other towns in the region will be under the new brand VAMUS. Some buses are already in the new colour scheme. There is a new website in Portuguse, English and Spanish at http://vamusalgarve.pt This has interactive maps by route showing all stops, downloadable timetables and a journey planner. They will also be offering passes and season tickets than can recharged on line instead of trekking to a bus station. Buses now have route numbers some of which are shown on the front of the bus, unlike the one above! Now if only there was a decent bus service, especially at weekends!
