Currently in Bordeaux, where it has been 34 or 35º, very humid and hardly a breathe of wind. This morning, Friday, very cloudy and 24º. Several days of showers forecast from Saturday with temperatures only in the mid 20's. Nice to have some weather.

Now day 2 NO RAIN in Belfast. were expecting a few thunder showers Wednesday Thursday but wont be enough to stop a hosepipe ban. Madness 3 weeks no rain and in May we had 8inches of rain 6.5 in June July will be known as hottest driest Mth ever with 3 new high temps 17-24 31.2 then 31.3 and Armagh has recorded highest of 31.4. temps would be great if sitting in old town watching the puppet show or clown but doing day to day work its bad.

Weather here continues cool and cloudy with occasional showers, some quite heavy. Temperature struggling to reach 24º.

On a side note, there is no curfew here with some bars open until 2am and music etc outdoors until 1130 ish. On the downside mask wearing at ALL times when out in the streets is now back in force in many towns and cities in the region. This was announced last night with effect from this morning and has obviously surprised many. From Sunday a pass will be needed to go into any cinema, theatre or similar, museums, galleries, libraries, long distance trains and coaches, restaurants and bars - at any time - even shopping centres should local authorities so decide.

Needless to say there is considerable disquiet about this. Rather sarcastically some even suggested that those not fully vaccinated, which in France is about half the adult population, should wear some distinguishing mark on their clothing to make it easier to identify them. As you might imagine, that caused quite an uproar.

Some are comparing the idea of this two tier society with the Occupation of 1940 - 1945.

Better weather here yesterday and today (24º) but a very wet and very windy weekend is forecast. A depression in the Bay of Biscay is the cause.

Yesterday was fairly pleasant, 24º but a bit windy.  I overdid the cycling a bit and somehow strained my back. Ow, ow!

This morning has started cloudy and a heavy rain shower has just passed over. Still not very summery.

Very cloudy this morning and it rained hard for a couple of hours at lunchtime. Better now, nice evening, though a rather cool 22º. A band is tuning up for a performance on the square. They will hope it doesn't end as abruptly as last Saturday night, with lightning and a very heavy shower out of almost nothing.

Beer's gone up, €3 for a demi (25cl) so my waistline should be improving with necessary rationing in force.

Morning sky after a rainy night. From the look of the forecast, this just about sums up today and the rest of the week|

Another two rainy mornings since those pictures but afternoons have been better. Still not very warm, 22ºC, at best but OK for a couple of hours on the pedals.

Hi Tom Have you been to the Dune du Pilat south of Arcachon or round to pointe du Cape Ferret. If not worth a visit.
