It is a bit windy, but a nice day. Just a few clouds in an otherwise blue sky. Temperature at 1300hrs is a pleasant 17.7º. We are in for a few days of nice sunny weather. Temperatures will be gradually increasing until this time next week it's forecast to be 28 - 30º. No rain is expected. It's going to be a nice day today and we are coming into a good spell of weather over the next ten days or so. By this time next week, the daytime temperature is forecast to be around 30º. This morning it is 12.2º at 0730 under clear sky. It's not very windy at the moment, but will be later and coming from the north or north-west. Maximum temperature this afternoon 23º. Ot won't be too warm tonight, around 14º at midnight. I reckon the League have it right, Tom. Even if Oliveirense win the best they can do is draw level with Portimonense. Then it will go on head-to-head it appears, and there Portimonense hold the advantage. Yep, just seen that as I was watching Southampton last night. It's good see the careful consideration given to the fans with the kick-offs at such a convenient time, especially for the visitors. The game involving Oliveirense is at 11:00am. It should be a fairly nice day today, a bit cloudy and perhaps a chance of a short, sharp, shower as got me wet yesterday afternoon! Temperature at 0735am is 14.2º, wind is very light. It will be windier later and the temperature won't be more than 18 or 19º. It will be a bit cold tonight, down to 13º at midnight. The wind will then be swinging around to come from the north, bringing clear, bright, dry and warmer days. Portimonense v Farense is on Sunday 17th, kickoff 2030hrs at their Estadio Municipal. Fingernails will be chewed down to the quick.
Pacos Ferreira also play then ..... they are the third team involved with the scrap at the bottom.
From those three one will stay up, one will go down and one will face a playoff.

12th May 2026. Not very warm at about 18º and quite windy. Lots of cloud as you will see. There was a heavy shower about 20 minutes after I took the last of the pictures. You can see the banks of sand piled up in front of the sun loungers.






Just above the beach, near the viewing platform where the cats live, the undergrowth has been mostly cleared away in compliance with the legislation to try to prevent grass fires in summer. I only saw one cat. Perhaps the others don't like the new situation.

SILVES 1 - 2 IMORTAL Saturday 9th May 2026

Imortal recovered after two consecutive defeats to move within touching distance of the Algarve League title and promotion. The news that Ferreiras had been held to a draw at home meant that Imortal are now eight points ahead of them at the top of the table with three games remaining. It would have been even better had Ferreiras not equalised with a penalty in the 8th minute of added time!

Imortal had received good news during the week. Players José António and Ricardo Tomé, plus head coach Palma, had been absolved of further punishment in the wake of the incidents after the home game against Quarteirense. They had served the three match suspension while appeals were being heard, but at least escaped the 300 Euro fine. Both players were restored to the starting lineup at Silves. Also back was regular goalkeeper David Inacio, who had served a one match ban for accruing yellow cards. Missing was Diogo Luz, now serving a three match suspension.

It was a windy day on an artificial surface. Control was difficult at times. Imortal started off quickly and were rewarded with two goals within the first seven minutes. Left back Nandim Silveira played a big part in both, with his overlapping runs and good crosses. He is also fast becoming the first choice taker of corners and attacking free kicks. Imortal went ahead in the fourth minute. Walter Alves, who had a very good game, took the ball under control in midfield and laid it off nicely to Silveira outside him on the left. Silveira set off down the line and sent in a fairly hopeful cross low into the area. A defender half blocked it, out came the ball to António on the edge of the area. He lashed it first time towards goal, the ball seemed to bounce just in front of ´keeper Goncalinho to go over his head into the roof of the net. Not bad at all for his first goal of the season!

The second goal arrived two minutes and twenty seconds later. Alves and Silveira were again involved. Once more, Alves controlled a loose ball in midfield and laid it off to António. Silveira ran down the line into empty space, crossed superbly to the far post where Mario Duarte was waiting, more or less unmarked. He had an easy header down onto the line and into the net.

So far, so good. But barely two minutes later, Silves were awarded a penalty for handball against Pedro Rodrigues. A cross had floated into the penalty area, Rodrigues was adjudged to have controlled it with his arm. There were few protests, perhaps mindful of possible yellow cards and more suspensions. The penalty was easily converted by Max Boonstoppel.

The game then settled down into a midfield contest, no goalscoring opportunities to note other than one from Imortal, a header just over. That continued until the 67th minute when Ricardo Tomé missed a golden opportunity to make it 3-1. Walter Alves, for the umpteenth time, worked his magic in midfield to send a perfect pass over the heads of the defenders, who were playing a high line. Tomé timed his run to perfection, beat the defensive line, took control of the ball about 30 metres out and was one to one on the ´keeper. The ´keeper was dummied off the challenge, Tomé had the most open of goals, but scuffed his shot from 20 metres and saw it go wide. Would we pay for that later??

No, as it happened. Imortal were in control, the game was being played almost entirely in the Silves half. Rodrigues had a couple of decent headers from corners, a 'goal' was disallowed for a marginal offside, then Duarte hit a post with a header.

Four minutes added time was announced. News came that Ferreiras were losing at that moment. Imortal had no further problems to deal with, then we heard that Ferreiras had equalised with that penalty when down to ten men following a red card.

Next match is away to Quarteirense, ko 1700hrs on Saturday 16th May.

A bit windy and cloudy today. A couple of showers also. Temperature at 1245 is 17.8º. There might be the odd shower or two later, but the rest of the day should be mainly dry.
