Sunday - Alcochetense 1 - 1 Imortal a game of two penalties and eleven yellow cards. Six of those were for Imortal, five for the home team.

Alcochetense took the lead early with the first penalty, Mario Duarte's trusty foot equalised also from the spot. Imortal stay in second place, three points behind leaders Sintrense. 

Imortal team : Inacio; Dias, Lopes, Floro, Pina; Nascimento, Coelho, Baiao, Pimenta; Cabral, Duarte. Subs used, including some new faces, Miguel Constantinescu, Mica Silva, Gonçalves, Diogo Silva.

There are no more league games for a long time. Next weekend though it's the second round of the FA Cup. TV wants to show the game, so Imortal have to be out of bed early on Saturday 19th September for an 11:00am kickoff.

Tondela are in Liga 2, having been relegated from the top league at the end of last season. They were down our way on Sunday, beating Portimonense 2-0. No doubt some of Imortal's people were watching.

Starts Saturday 3rd October. Algarve League Division Two. For diehards only!

Recent years has seemed to be such a faff at that level of play.

Confirmed that Imortal have entered a B team in the Algarve League Second Division. That gets under way on 3rd October, a week after the first round of the Algarve Cup.

The format has been changed, again. Next season will be a single 16 team competition, therefore 30 games to be played. There are no midweek fixtures and none over Christmas, New Year and Easter. The season will not end until 29th May 2027.

The other teams are : Olhanense B, Lagos B, Culatrense, Bensafrim, FC Os 11 Esperanças, Alvor, Guia, Monchique, Campinense, Paderne, Quarteira SC, S.R. Almancil, Sport Faro e Benfica, Messinense and Sambrasense.

Seems both 'small' teams in Olhão, FC 4 ao Cubo and Marítimo, have dropped out while Olhanense B come in and presumably have taken some of their players.

Imortal B will probably be playing home games on the 3G pitch rather than the main stadium. Fixtures are due out very soon. I will make up a page for them.

Hard work against a well organised opponent. A game of very few decent chances, neither goalkeeper really had a save to make. The single goal was a moment worth waiting for. Nine minutes into the second half, midfielder Rafael Baiao found himself in acres of space, took the ball forwards over the half way line, unchallenged he let fly from distance into the bottom right hand corner of the net. The ball did bounce to be fair to the 'keeper, but an excellent strike nevertheless. Imortal's only shot on target! Baiao went off to well deserved round of applause when subbed a few minutes before the end.

Four goals for last season's top scorer Mario Duarte (aka Marocas) plus an own goal.

Imortal 5 - 0 1º Dezembro a good start to the League season indeed! I wasn't there, still in France. More details as and when available.

1º Dezembro were re-admitted to the league on Friday afternoon. Mass confusion! They had appealed, successfully obviously, to the court of arbitration in sport following their exclusion for not presenting the relevant financial guarantees. The FA was not happy, to say the least.

Next Sunday Imortal will be at home to Lagoa, ko 1700hrs / 5pm. I will be at that one!

Importan update for Imortal Albufeira fans. Announced on Friday, at 48 hours notice, that SC Sacavense will take the 'vacant' place in Imortal's league. Therefore the game on Sunday 16th August at 1700hrs will now take place. Grr - I shall still be away.

To Dangadd - you can see now why it is so difficult to keep up with things here! Especially in the top two divisions where TV decides when games are to be played, to an even greater extent than in England. The official Liga Portugal website shows Portimonense's 1100am kickoff as mentioned above. Games are often scheduled only 3 - 4 weeks in advance and it gets worse when the big teams are in Europe. They sometimes demand that weekend league matches are postponed so their poor babies don't have to play 3 times in 8 days.

PS take some cash, just in case. All the grounds I have been to down here have been cash only at the gate and certainly at the bar!

My plan is to try and make both the Portimonense game and also the Ferreiras game - they will be my introduction to competitive football in Portugal. I have only previously seen a friendly. I had seen KO times and dates on both flashscore and futbology (Although the Portimonense website was still showing 30th).
