Job done. Took all of 5 minutes as the only thing missing from my SNS record was my residencia number. Must be done in person.

If you haven't done yours yet, be aware that the office at the Albufeira health centre will only deal with this on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 1000 - 1200, Tuesdays and Thursdays 1400 - 1600. Good job I went in and asked on the way past!

You need to take passport and residencia card, SNS and Social security numbers if not on the card.

I had the text message last week to confirm my SNS data. I won't be home for a couple of weeks, but in the meantime has anyone actually worked out what must be done?

The message - Utente SNS n.xxxxxx2326, se e residente atualize os seus dados no RNU, junto de uma unidade de saude do SNS. Obrigado.

It looks to me that I must physically go to an RNU. Next to the Albufeira Health Centre? When is it open? What documents do they want?

Any clues gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Good morning, I have not received my IMI bill yet and deadline is looming. Is anyone else under Albufeira Council still waiting on their bill? This was a situation I found myself in last year when a friend left his UK car outside my house. Before the car can be legally scrapped the car tax has to be paid regardless and if it's overdue a fine will be added. I paid all outstanding monies owed. I then got a form from the scrapyard in Albufeira to complete and had to post the form to the UK for the owner to sign. I then returned the signed form and car documents to the scrap yard and they then picked the car up, it was broken down. I have never seen any quarries around here, at least not for gravel. I don't have a garden so buying gravel and planters isn't my thing.

There are some garden centre type places along the N125 near Guia that I have passed that sell pots and stuff for ornamental gardens generally. I don't know the names but this is one of them found on a map -

As regards Portuguese politics and regulations one must ask how easy have the Portuguese made things for those wishing to legitimately rent properties which are effectively their life savings and pension?

I have found the regulations so obstructive and over powering that I have now opted out. I know that leaves a property mostly uninhabited for a large part of the year but it's mine, I bought it with hard earned cash and I can do as I please.

I certainly didn't buy it as some socialist project to help others or the Portuguese government. I pay the taxes, utilities and all other costs, I pay my taxes, contribute to the Portuguese government, don't use Uber, Bolt or TVDE and don't claim anything from the Portuguese so I term myself as a net + to Portugal.

Sadly I know of many who do not fit that bill, rape and pillage the country for every cent they can, avoid taxes, facilitate unregistered and uninsured airport transfers and still expect the best of standards when they visit or live here.

The two simply don't align.

A friend returned to UK last October and left his car at my house. It failed recent MOT and is untaxed. The car isn't working and worthless. Can I have it scrapped even though it is still registered to the owner? What can I do to get rid of it legally? Hi, I did this at Junta de Freguesia Albufeira a couple of months ago.

Your witnesses must be Portuguese citizens (and be registered to vote in Albufeira)
I assume your British friends are Portuguese residents, so they can't be witnesses.
