Hi there do not post very often. I usually go to Albufeira every September but over the last few months also went in November 2016 for 11 days, January this year for 12 days and are coming over first 2 weeks in March - excellent place all year round and weather has been great and so inexpensive compared to tourist season. I have seen a lot of people fishing off Falesia Beach and I've spoken to quite a few of them.
According to them they fish for Robalo (Sea Bass), Dorada (Sea Bream) and Cavalhina (Mackerel).
To be honest though I've very rarely seen anyone actually catch anything, even though they've got all the gear and use up to 3 or 4 rods at a time.
Still, there's usually a few down there, especially in the Winter, so presumably they must catch something or else they're just getting away from the missus Wink
As I understand it you need a permit to fish from the beach. These can be obtained through any Multibanco (Cash) Machine. This link tells you all about it.

Mandingo is indeed part of Albufeira and is a good friend of mine. He also likes being known as Dog Man. He also is known as 50 cents as that is what he likes to ask for.
