Confirm that two of three bars I go to regularly are cash only. Bigger bars where meals are served usually take cards. Best ask first. My local corner shop only takes cards for €5 and over, which is fairly common. All major supermarkets etc do of course take cards.

Contactless limit here is €50 by the way. Your own card may have limits on the number of transactions on the same day or adding up to certain amount before a PIN is needed. Mine do.

I got 1.17 at Ramsdens on Monday for my November trip .. best on the high street if purchased online. I've got euros to bring. It's been over a decade since we were last there (cannot believe it) I'm sure there will be many changes. I've heard there are lots of smaller bars, cafes etc that are cash only and those that do take cards prefer tips in cash. The cambio near Eddy's bar was giving 1.07 on Saturday. It had a sticker with 7 on it over whatever was there before. Rate was good at 1.176 overnight, but some dumping again saw it down to  1.1689 this morning.
