Sunday afternoon 29th March. Sunny and 21ยบ. Some detail of the repairs being made to the cliffs following the storm damage over the winter.





Memorial to a lifestyle almost forgotten.




















Repairs are also being made to the damaged wall along the clifftop Rua da Bateria.

The Roca restaurant is still there. More sand has been piled up to try to keep the sea away. A chap was busy making repairs to the terrace. Further along, various machinery was at work removing loose material from the cliff. Two big lumps of rock have fallen onto the path near the base of the lift. Apologies for the poor quality of some of the pictures!

The weeks of windy and stormy weather have left their mark. A lot of sand has been washed away. The Roca restaurant on the beach is still there, albeit with some minor damage to the front of the terrace. The steps at that end have been cordoned off owing to damage down at the bottom. It wasn't very warm on Sunday, but people were still out on the beach and even in the sea!

High tide has just passed. Next high tide 18:34hrs. The sea is less rough than on Friday and Saturday.

Some pictures taken this afternoon. There is some minor damage around the pinnacle end of the beach. The sea wasn't particularly rough, but the waves were almost reaching the Roca restaurant. Near the pier, the waves were reaching right to the base of the cliff, something I have not seen in a long time.










Some appreciate the big waves!

Just looked on webcam and the JCB,s are out piling sand up. next high tide it will all be gone again. I wasn't able to see for myself yesterday, but was told that the restaurant was being hit by waves. We have another stormy weekend ahead. Sand was being piled up to try to create at least a temporary barrier. I though it was about 4 million. I wonder how much it would cost today.
