CP have introduced a monthly (calendar month) pass for unlimited travel on REGIONAL trains. This costs €49 per person. Details can be found here. Do check the regional rail map. Regional train service is not available in all parts of the country, notably between Lisbon and the Algarve. This pass is NOT valid on suburban trains around Lisbon and Porto.

ID and photo needed for the application form and the issue of the plastic card on which the pass would be loaded.

For anyone staying in or near Albufeira, this could be useful if planning to stay for 3 or 4 weeks or longer and making frequent use of the trains on the Algarve line. However those entitled to a senior discount on normal fares may not make a saving.
