Just read on Safe Communities Portugal facebook page that the strike has been called off
The National Union of Hazardous Drivers (SNMMP) announced this afternoon that it has decided to call off the strike that began last Monday. The decision announced by the SNMMP president Francisco Sao Bento and was taken during a plenary of union workers, which took place this afternoon (18/8/19) in Aveiras De Cima and lasted about 3 hrs.

Ive just seen that the strike has been suspended. They are going to mediation so dispute not settled .
No doubt it will take a few days for supplies to get back to normal.

Thanks Andrew - got petrol for my lawnmower .
Amazed to see people trying to fill 5litre water bottles with petrol until lady stopped them.
The Repsol at top of Montechoro  (the only Govt guaranteed filling station in Albufeira ) was shut this morning!!!

No limit, no queue, no panic at the station up the road from us.

That was the government decree to try to ration supplies to 'non essential users' eg tourists and the public at large. Won't ever work of course as people will simply get their 15 litres and go somewhere else and get another 15.

Yes Richardk saw pictures of queues at fuel stations over the border, seems its approx 31cents a litre cheaper too according to what one person said.
Stations that have fuel on the Algarve are  supposedly now limiting people to a max of 15 litres.

Ive just seen reports of queues at filling stations across the Spanish  border towards Huelva  etc. Fuel is cheaper in Spain so clearly many people have thought it worthwhile to make the trip to avoid delays here. Anybody got any updates? Our nearest station has run out of diesel, I think that’s because the traders and the taxi’s have piled in, but it has petrol, no queues, no panic. Anybody add anything or report similar or different?

I know Poll, but my observation was some stations panic buying is happening and chaos ensues, others, like the one in Vale Parra are operating as normal, all fuel derivatives in stock, no panic, no queues, business as usual. Why the difference?
Taxi driver last night said he believed it was all over now anyway and resolved but, so there was a proviso, it would be Monday before we knew this for certain. He also said we should be more worried about the supermarkets, their delivery drivers start strike tomorrow and that was still happening. Everyone is panic buying Andrew. Photos on facebook of van drivers with big containers in the backs of their vans filling up, (mainly diesel) I couldn't believe the  traffic gridlock it caused on the dual carriageway in Albufeira especially at the fuel station approaching the Watches roundabout.
