Slightly off topic but spotted yesterday that a new LIDL store is going up at the Boliqueime roundabout right next to ALDI. Supermarket wars, 2019 style!

They are branching out everywhere. ALDI is also opening new stores left, right and centre  including one not far away at Vale de Parra. One assumes the management of these store chains know what they are doing.

Why do they feel the need for one at Guia and Gale. The one in Guia is only really busy one week of the year, at Christmas. It's as well as the Guia one and also another one opening at the Faro side of Almancil. News reaches me that work is under way for a branch of Iceland Overseas at Galé, where the Ali Super used to be, behind the Colibri bar at the big roundabout. I don't know whether this is instead of or as well as the existing site near Algarve Shopping.
