Try somewhere outside Albufeira if being in the middle of this town is not essential. You may have better luck somewhere not touristy. These rentals are sometime more amenable to animals especially if they are well behaved. When I'm over I regularly play golf with a group of around 30 long term renters from various Countries - UK, Ireland, Holland, Norway etc. Some stay 6 months, some longer.

If you are a member of Facebook there we a few sites that advertise long term rentals. Algarve houses to sell or rent is one of them.
