We booked the transfers through Travel Republic. The provider in question was A2B Transfers. I have contacted them and they asked if I would e-mailed them the details. I will keep the forum informed as to what happens next.
The taxi driver who took us to Faro airport was fantastic, we explained the situation and he got us there with minutes to spare. His name is Jose Miguel Santos Guerriere, If you happen to read this "obrigada Jose".

we booked transfers through travel republic who assigned us to A2B when we went to Tenerife in March and I was a little bit worried after when I read reviews of them from reviewcentre.com but they picked us up on time from Reina Sofia airport and also on our return journey back. Did you not have to confirm with them 48hrs before  your return journey? On the confirmation of the booking we were given a phone number to ring or we could go on their website and put our reference number in. We did it online and it confirmed what time they would be picking us up and as I say they were bob on the dot timewise. Maybe its a different procedure for other countries. Good Luck with the complaint and hope you get a positive outcome.

Had a similar problem last year (not travel republic) with a company called cabfind - no one to meet us at Faro when we landed or to get us back Angry

We are very frequent visitors to Albufeira and have never had even the slightest problem before.
I did everything correct, I phoned and also viewed the confirmation on line (see attachment)
We are now fortunate in the fact that we always take extra cash with us, but when we were younger we would return from holiday with just a few coins.
What if this happened to OAP's or youngsters on holiday? They would have missed the flight and been standed and would have had to pay for new flights.
 
I am at present preparing a letter to Travel Republic, so lets see if they are as good as they say they are.

We had a brilliant time
We stayed in the Clube Oceano just up from your apartmemt. I see it has all been decorated and it looks great. Jean and I felt sad when we seen that bloody sign up.Cry
 
We had two lovely meals in A Concha, a Chinese and an Indian, but didnt have time to do all the things we planned as the week just flew in. We went to Zoo Marine and the sand sculptures. Both were really worth the effort. Once again to my shame I didnt make it to Floyds.
We met a lovely Irish family, they were just like Mrs Browns Boys and we did have a feckin laughLOL

I have had a reply from A2B transfers and they are looking into the matter.
They have asked me to send them the taxi receipt, which of course, with 4 minutes to go until the airport gate closes was the last thing on my mind and i didnt ask for one. Therefore can anyone who lives in Albuferira help me. I need the following information:-
The telephone number of The Luna Clube Oceano Hotel in Sao Joao area (The nuber I have is 00351 289 586 444 but it just rings out)
Or if someone was passing the hotel if they could ask Maria the recepionist what taxi firm they used and I could contact them and get the recipt that way.
 
I know its only 37.5 euros and I will probably spend more than that to get my money back but it is a point of principal now.
