Seen this discussed in a previous post. I am coming to Albufeira on the 2nd for a week and can install webcams which can be viewed by anyone online. Would anyone be interested in this service? I think it would add something unique to bars.

That would depend on the cost of the installation and running costs.

What would it cost for a normal house to be monitored?

There is just the one off cost for the webcam and you would need a broadband connection. I have 2 setup in my flat so when im out the house I can check on things. They also detect movement and take still images so are fantastic for security. I would not want much for installing them maybe 20 euros

Can you please PM me your details, we have broadband at the house, is it too much to ask to have a motorised webcam, so that we can alter the viewing image?

Chris this webcam thing could be an excellent security idea as long as everyone & anyone wouldn't be able to view it, (security on this is idea is most important)ie: they don't have the webcam address, otherwise anyone and everyone could view your property and know whats going on.  Something to think about pal.

I make sure the webpage which you view the webcam through needs a username and password so no one else can view except the people you tell. This is fantastic for security like I said when I go away on holiday I set the webcam up to detect movement and whenever it does it takes a still image every 2 seconds where it sensed the movement and sends the images to my laptop so even if they see the webcam and disconnect it the webcam would of already taken multiple images of them.

Dorty bugga!!

We have proper security camera's at home which record 24 hours a day onto your hard drive. It's the recordings the police would need if there was an incident. Do web cams record as well?

Trouble with your method Avril, is if they break in and nick the Hard Drive.

With the web cam, the pictures from Portugal can be streamed to your computer in the UK and even if they nick the web cam, you still have the footage.

Photos would work just aswell as security camera footage aslong as the images are clear enough which they would be. The webcam photos can be sent to numerous locations so your home pc, pc in the uk and a remote storage location so even if they steal your pc the images will still be safe.

I visit Albufeira  Heart on holiday at least twice a year.
I also visit Albufeira Heart "virtually" at least twice a day.
I do this in two ways, Firstly by logging onto "The Forum" and reading Cubsurs weather report and all the latest posts.
I also log onto the restuarant Hollandaise's webcamera.
This webcam sends out a real time motion steam Albufeira.
I always make a point to visit this restuarant at least once when I visit on holiday.

The web address of the webcam can be found here.
