Sorry for weather delay but I have been out since before first sparrow cough.

It's bright and breezy, quite a lot of fluffy clouds high up. Temperature at 1230 is 25.1ºC. Down in town a thermometer said 29, it is often that bit hotter among the buildings down there. Forecast does actually say max 29 today.

Tonight we will have 18 or 19.

The next couple of days will be similar to today, a bit cloudy, 27 or 28 during the day, 18 or 19 at night. The weekend will also be reasonably decent but it does look like a change in thje weather is on the way for next week. It will still be very warm, but there is a fair to middling chance of rain on Monday, Tuesday and especially Wednesday.

UPDATE 0855 - it's not mist but smoke from a fire somewhere. It's suddenly become so thick I cannot even see the marina!

Temperature up here among the buildings at 0825am is 22.1ºC, the air is almost still. It will stay a little cloudy today, bringing the maximum temperature down to no more than 27ºC. That's about 5ºC above the average for the time of year.

The airflow is still from the south east and east, so it will stay warm at night, probably not below 19ºC tonight in sheltered spots, 20 or even 21 elsewhere.

Friday and Saturday will be about the same, perhaps a touch warmer under less cloud.

The change in weather, if it does come, is likely to be on Wednesday next week. A cold front system and a small but deep depression is currently tagged with a 38 - 40% chance of light showers on Wednesday and Thursday.

Sorry Tom but that was a big sea mist and not smoke. Been all around Albufeira last couple of hours and no smell but visibility down to 200m in places. Burning off now the sun has come out

Never got worse than a bit of mist here. The sky was clear as a bell at 6am when the stars were still bright but it got a bit misty for an hour between 7.30 and 8.30 & then cleared.
A lovely day although a tad cooler than of late.

I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

That was a strange mist yesterday. Came and went within half and hour.  So thick and I swear it smelled smoky. Never mind.

A nice fresh feel to the air this morning. Temperature at 0840am is 21.2ºC, there is quite a lof of high cloud, a bit of a breeze from the west.

Forecast today is for 29ºC , staying cloudy. It won't be as warm tonight as it has been, perhaps only 18ºC in town, cooler in the sticks.

A very hot day is on the cards for tomorrow, local forecasters say it could reach 31ºC!  Sunday not quite so hot, 27 in the daytime, 19 or 20 at night.

The onset of wet weather is still predicted for the middle of next week.

Tropical storm Ophelia will pass over the Azores during the weekend, bringing some very unpleasant weather to those islands. It will then track up towards Ireland, running to the west of Portugal.

Some of the effects it will bring here will  be the wind and rain next week. The storm is moving very slowly - info at https://weather.com/storms/hurricane/news/2017-10-11-tropical-storm-ophelia-hurricane-azores

On the IPMA website "September 2017 was the driest on mainland Portugal for 87 years" .
Having been there for most of it, that doesn't surprise me.

PS. They are also forecasting 32 for today!

There was a thick blanket of high cloud half an hour which is now just starting to break up, so a few blue bits are starting to appear overhead. Temperature at 0855am is 23.9ºC, There is a light wind from the south west at the moment.

Today is expected stay quite cloudy, with a maximum temperature of 30ºC. That is a good 6ºC higher than the average for mid October. Tonight will be warm again, no lower than 19ºC in rural areas, warmer in town.

Sunday will be a little cooler, then Monday will be more like average day in the middle of October with only 24ºC and a lot of cloud. Rain will cover most of the country, it's due hereabouts on Tuesday and Wednesday with a possibility of showery days right through until next weekend. It will be warm rain though, daytimes should be in the 24 - 26 range, night-times 15 or 16.

Another hot sunny day. Make the most of it, rainy days coming from tomorrow perhaps

Temperature at 1130am is exactly 26ºC. it is fairly windy, some of my upstairs neighbour's washing joined mine lower down. There is a veil of high cloud keeping the sun off at the moment.

Temperature may rise to 27 or 28 later. It will be a warm night under the cloud, no lower than around 21ºC.

Rain is coming tomorrow. The remains of that hurricane presently moving up the Atlantic are going to bring two or three days of rain, could be prolonged spells tomorrow, more like showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, then things will return to normal. It won't be cold as it is very moist tropical air, daytimes will still be well above average for the time of year.

Quite a contrast this morning, it was very murky earlier and just starting to brighten up now. Temperature at 0935am is 23.6ºC, so not cold, but feeling very damp in the mist, humidity thing says 75%. There is a light wind from the east just now.

We won't be getting much sun today, but the damp tropical air will mean temperature still around 25ºC later. There was some very nasty stormy weather to the south of here during the night but it is not coming our way. There are though some showers currently on the radar around Portimão and Lagos.

Tonight will be a reasonable 18ºC, tomorrow will bring the first of the rainy days, 'periods of rain' rather than showers. Wednesday looks like being a bit wet as well plus it will be a lot cooler at around 21ºC, which is more like October should be.

There's a chance of showers through until the weekend, when it will be dry and fairly warm at 23ºC.

Wet stuff is falling from the sky. I think it is called rain.

Only a little at the moment, but it's steady and there is a fairly large lump of it heading our way.

Temperature at 0815 is 21.1ºC.  There is very little wind, so the rain could be slow to clear. Thick cloud to the east, not so bad looking the other way but I see a big rainbow there. A line of very heavy showers passed across the country to the north of here, but missed us and is currently raining on Spain.

Forecast for today is showers and a top temperature of 24ºC. Showers may have passed by around lunchtime. Tonight won't be too bad, cloudy and 17 or 18ºC.

Tomorrow will be another showery day, similar to today, but Thursday will be cloudy, probably no rain but a bit cooler

Hoping that you do get some rain soon over that way Dicey. The gardens (and indeed the rest of the countryside) are really crying out for water. Dreading seeing the state of the lawn when we come back out there in a few weeks time.

Just enough rain here to make the car really, really filthy, but not enough to make a hap'eth of difference to the land...
