Promotion certainly would not have been allowed. But it is an inexplicable loss of form. The same group of players are out there. The others do have more to play for, that's certain.

If Imortals B team had maintained form to win their Division Tom, would they have been allowed promotion given the first teams presence in Div1?

Could account for their fall-away perhaps.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

No game in the top league last weekend of course. Next weekend both Farense and Portimonense are going to be in dire need of points to avoid dropping in to the relegation zone.  Next Saturday afternoon Farense travel up north to the little town of Arouca, who are currently seventh.  Portimonense will be at home on Monday night, 1st April, with Braga the visitors, ko 2015hrs. Braga are fourth and hoping for a place in European competition next season.

NOTE FOR EASTER - semi professional leagues do not play over the Easter holiday weekend. The only match in the Algarve will be Portimonense v Braga on Monday night, 1st April, ko 2015hrs.

CAMPEONATO DE PORTUGAL FIRST PHASE GROUP D

Results for Algarve teams

Imortal Albufeira 1 - 2 VdeG Vidigueira
Moncarapachense 1 - 1 Barreirense
Louletano 4 -1 Oriental Lisboa

That was the penultimate round of matches in the first phase.  Already decided, Moncarapachense will join winners Vítoria Setubal in the second phase promotion and championship round that starts in mid  April.  Imortal were long since doomed to relegation and will be joined in the downfall by Real SC and the aforementioned Oriental Lisboa. The remaining two relegation spots will be decided on the last round of matches on 7th April, with four clubs involved.

GD Fabril Barreiro have 33 points, Serpa 31, V de G 30 and Juventude Évora 29. All kinds of permutations are possible, but Juventude must win to have any chance of avoiding the drop. GD Fabril need just a draw to be safe, they would be above Vasco da Gama on head to head results if points are level and their goal difference is vastly superior to the others. The results between two teams tied on points is the first tie break criterion.

Imortal's final and meaningless match for both, up at Sintra, will be on Saturday 6th April, ko 1600hrs.

The other fixtures, all at 1600hrs on Sunday 7th April, will be :

Juventude Évora (11th) v Moncarapachense (2nd)
Elvas v Vítoria Setubal (a game of no consequence)
Vde G Vidigueira (10th) v Lusitano Évora (3rd)
Oriental Lisboa v Real SC (a grim afternoon no doubt)
Barreirense (5th) v Serpa (9th)
GD Fabril (8th) v Louletano (4th)

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SECOND PHASE
First matches Promotion Group

Lagoa 2 - 1 Ferreiras
Silves 1 -1 Odiáxere
Lagos 2 - 0 Quarteirense

With points from phase one carried over, Lagoa are top with 57, a massive 14 points ahead of Odiáxere with the rest currently also rans.

No games next weekend because of the Easter holidays. Next round of matches Saturday 6th April ko 1600hrs

Ferreiras v Lagos
Odiáxere v Lagoa
Quarteirense v Silves

Relegation Group

11 Esperanças 1 - 2 Portimonense B
Lusitano VRSA 1 -1 Culatrense
Paderne 3 -1 Carvoeiro United

With points also carried over, it is the bottom end of the table that is important. Carvoeiro United are doomed, with only 8 points, above them are Culatrense with 17 then Portimonense B on 21.

Next round of matches also on Saturday 6th April at 1600hrs

Paderne v Lusitano VRSA
Portimonense B v Carvoeiro United
Culatrense v Os 11 Esperanças

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION TWO SECOND PHASE - Third round of matches

Gold (Promotion Group)

Os Armancanenses 1 - 0 Campinense
Moncarpachense B 2 - 1 Imortal Albufeira B
SC Olhanense 4 -1 Guia

Points were not carried over. After three games, Os Armancanenses lead the way with 7 points, then come SC Olhanense and Guia both with 6.

Imortal B's season appears to have go to pot. After sailing through the fiast phase with only one defeat, they have now lost all three in the second phase.

Next matches, Saturday 6th April ko 1800hrs

SC Olhanense 1912 v Imortal Albufeira B
Campinense v Moncarpachense
Guia v Os Armancanenses

Silver group

Sport Faro Benfica 4 -1 Lagoa
Messinense 0 - 1 Sambrasense
Quarteira SC 2 - 0 Ferreiras B

Quarteira SC and Sambrasense are both 100% with 9 points from three games.

Next matches, Saturday 6th April

Messinense v Ferreiras B ko 1800hrs
Lagoa v Quarteira SC ko 1800hrs
Sambrasense v Sport Faro Benfica ko 1600hrs

Bronze group 1

Louletano B 4 - 3 Bensafrim
Odiáxere B 3 - 2  4 ao Cubo

Louletano B have won all three games so far, the others one each.

Next matches Saturday 6th April ko 1800hrs

4 ao Cubo v Louletano B
Odiáxere B v Bensafrim

Bronze group Two only three teams

Marítimo Olhanense 0 - 1 Mentes Desporto

For what it's worth, Mentes Desporto lead having won both their first two games.

Next match Saturday 6th April ko 1800hrs

Alvor v Mentes Desporto although do check as two games in this division were changed at 4 days notice last week.

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL NATIONAL LEAGUE THIRD DIVISION SECOND PHASE SOUTH GROUP

There were no matches last weekend and there will be none next weekend. Guia's successful season resumes on 7th April with a trip to Sintra.

TAÇA FEMININA PROMOÇÃO GROUP I

No game for Ferreiras in the five team group and none next weekend. Their season resumes on Saturday 6th April with a trip to Barreirense.

Sorry for late response. At this level you pay at the gate and it is cash only.

Do you have to book tickets or can you pay at the gate? How much would it usually be?

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

LIGA BETCLIC

Estoril 1 - 0 Portimonense att 1870
Farense 1 -1 Rio Ave att 4713

Portimonense are definitely in the relegation mire. It's now eight games since they last won during which time they have dropped to 16th place and only four points off the bottom.  In their current situation they would face a promotion / relegation playoff against the team that finishes third in the  second division. That would more than likely be one of the two Madeira teams, Nacional or Marítimo. Farense are 12th, with 27 points. They also haven't won for a long time. Only five points separate 8th from 16th place, so the last few weeks of the season are going to be a bit fraught for half the league!

There are no games in the Liga Betclic next weekend, because of Internationals. Next game for Portimonense will be over the Easter weekend at home to Braga, date and time not yet fixed. Farense will travel up north to Arouca.

CAMPEONATO DE PORTUGAL FIRST PHASE GROUP D

Results and fixtures for Algarve teams

Lusitano Évora 3 - 0 Imortal Albufeira
Sintrense 1 - 2 Moncarpachense
Juventude Évora 0 - 1 Louletano

Two games remaining in this first phase. Moncarpachense need one point to guarantee second place and join leaders Vítoria Setubal in the second phase for possible promotion to Liga 3. Louletano are 6th and will finish mid table, while Imortal are bottom and relegated to the Algarve League.

Next Sunday at 1600hrs

Louletano v Oriental Lisboa at the Algarve Stadiium
Imortal Albufeira v Vidigueira
Moncarcpachense v Barreirense

Heads up - there are no games over the Easter weekend.

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SECOND PHASE

Despite everything saying there would only be one league phase this season, they are now announcing a second phase! The league has been split into two groups of six with a further round of matches starting next Saturday. Points are carried through from the first phase. All games are shown as a 600hrs kickoff.

Top group

Lagoa v Ferreiras
Silves v Odiáxere
Lagos v  Quarteirense

Second group

Carvoeiro United v Paderne
Os 11 Esperanças v Portimonense B
Lusitano VRSA v Culatrense

There will be no games over the Easter weekend.

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION TWO SECOND PHASE

Gold Group (Championship and Promotion)

Imortal Albufeira B 0 - 2 Os Armacanenses
Campinense 1 - 2 Guia
Moncarapachense B 0 - 1 SC Olhanense 1912

All going wrong for Imortal B after a very good first phase!

Guia have won both their games so far  and top the league.

Next Saturday at 1800hrs but watch out for changes!

Moncarpachense B v Imortal Albufeira B
Os Armcanense v Campinense
SC Olhanense 1912 v Guia

Likewise no games over Easter.

Silver group

Quarteira SC 3 - 0 Messinense
Ferreiras B 1 - 2 Sport faro Benfica
Lagoa B 2 - 4 Sambrasense

Sambrasense and Quarteira SC are tied at the top, both having won their first two games.

Next Saturday ko 1800hrs

Quarteira SC v Ferreiras B
Sport Faro Benfica v Lagoa B
Messinense v Sambrasense

Bronze group (only three teams)

Alvor 3 -1 Marítomo Olhanense

Next Saturday ko 1800hrs

Mentes Desporto v Marítimo Olhanense at Estombar

WOMEN´S FOOTBALL NATIONAL LEAGUE THIRD DIVISION SECOND PHASE South group

Salesiano Arouca 1 - 4 Guia

Guia head the table, they have 17 points from 7 matches, one ahead of Feirense. This league has no matches for the next two weekends.

Taça Feminina de Promoção First phase Group M

Ferreiras 1 - 0 Olímpico Montijo

Ferreiras lead this five team group with 14 points from six games. They are three points ahead of Barreirense, who have a game in hand. As above, there are no games over the next two weekends.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Liga Betclic

Portimonense 0 - 0 Vizela att 1610. Having a man sent off with nearly half an hour left didn't help Portimonense. Luckily for them, other results mean they stay the one point ahead of the dreaded relegation playoff. Next Friday night at 1845hrs they entertain FC Porto.

Sporting 3 - 2 Farense att 39,063  as a result Farense drop to 11th.  Sporting go top of the league. Next Saturday Farense travel up to Vizela.

Big result of the day was undoubtedly Porto's 5- 0 hammering of Benfica. That closes the gap to six points between Porto in third and Benfica now in second. Man City reject Otamendi got himself sent off on the hour, but Porto were already 3-0 up. The match stats show Porto were absolutely all over 'em.

Campeonato de Portugal Group D First Phase

Results and fixtures for Algarve teams. Four games remaining.

Lusitano Évora 0 - 0 Moncarapachense
Imortal Albufeira 1 - 2 Serpa
Sintrense 1 - 1 Louletano

Moncarapachense are now four points behind leaders Vítoria Setubal, but six ahead of Lusitano Évora. The top two go through into the second phase for the title and possible promotion. Louletano are 6th and Imortal bottom and relegated.

Next Saturday (because of the general election on Sunday) all ko 1500hrs

Louletano v Barreirense at the Algarve Stadium
Elvas v Imortal Albufeira away up in the wilds
Moncarapachense v Vasco da Gama Vidigueira.

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE

The penultimate round of matches. There are only twelve teams in the league. Lagoa are guaranteed winners on 51 points. Odiáxere are second on 41 points, Silves third with 40.

Ferreiras 3 -1 Lusitano VRSA
Culatrense 0 - 0 Lagos
Odiáxere 0 - 1 Os 11 Esperanças

Fixtures are out for the second phase of Algarve League Division Two, in which Guia and Imortal B will be among those battling it out for the title and, in Guia's case, possible promotion to the First Division.

The first round of matches on 9th March includes Guia v Imortal B. Most matches will be at 1800hrs (6pm) but can be changed.

ALGARVE CUP SEMI FINALS

The draw has been made. Matches provisionally scheduled for Wednesday 13th March ko 2030hrs

Guia v Moncarapachense and Carvoeiro United v Ferreiras

So Guia, the team leading Algarve League Division Two (West), meets the team second in National League Division Four Group D, while the other tie is between two teams from the Algarve League First Division.

There will be an element of revenge for Ferreiras, who lost 4-3 at Carvoeiro United last weekend in the League. That was Carvoeiro's first league win of the season.

Interestingly, both the semi-finals and final will take place after the Algarve League Division One programme has finished. How will the two teams keep in shape?

Womens u19 Development International match.

Portugal 2-1 Hungary.

Windy afternoon at Imortal had an effect today. Portugal were noticeably the better team and could have scored more. The Magyars ran hard but were short of quality, one shot on target and one goal.

The usual collection of relatives in the stand, including maybe ten from Hungary.
