Thanks for the trouble you've taken Tom.  The town has spent a lot of money in this project.
I'm looking forward to be able to walk from Sao Joao to the town at any state of the tide.

Work has now been completed, the beach fully restored although they do seem to have churned up the shells a bit. There is a new wall blocking off the way round between the main cliff and the pillar.

I will see if I can get some pictures over this weekend.

They were still working there on Friday and the area remains fenced off.

The area was still fenced off on Friday. I was able to get closer a couple of Sundays ago when no-one was working. Friday was supposed to have been the final day, so I will perhaps pop down there to see if I can get a closer look but that won't be today, lots to do!

have they finished the work at that end of the beach now Tom ? Would it be posible to get any more, posibly closer pictures of the wall ? thanks in advance kev.

This picture I took on Friday clearly shows the step in the sand by the pier. We've had nothing much in the way of rough seas for a long time so things seem stable at the moment.



Meanwhile, down at the far end, there is now a substantial breakwater wall to help prevent the sand from being washed along the coast.
