Has anyone any idea how we can deter seagulls from plonking on top of our chimney stacks and doing their duty all over our patio furniture and newly painted terrace walls?

A factory near where I stay has had a problem with birds in the past.
They placed a plastic fox on the top of there roof and hey presto no more birds.

A local shop (to me in Scotland) sells plastic replica animals i.e owls, hawks, eagles, foxes, dogs, cats and donkeys.

I suppose someone who is coming from the UK to Portuga, could bring you a stuffed donkey.Big smile

You could hang some fishing lines across the roof. It is used on a few location in Albufeira to keep them away and it seems to work...

You can buy stick or nail on spiky strips that they don't like. They are plastic. I am not sure where to buy them, perhaps Leroy Merlin?

This is the kind of thing

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I am sure we can use one of them that will make the gulls fly straight past rather than park up!

The fishing lines that admin mentioned scare them away. The noise in the wind and the fact that they cannot see them until they bump into them, then scared...........

I like the idea of animals - though it would look a bit daft to have a donkey on a roof Ouch
