Now I knew there was one white cat with no ears that lives near the Rocamar, but there are TWO.

Seen today.

and a short distance further up the steps

Shortly before, I spotted what is obviously not a scaredycat.

and some of the tribe that lives by the viewing platform obligingly got together for a group photo. Couldn't get them to smile though.

I had a little visitor waiting for me at the front door when I returned from a lunchtime errand. I hope it will feast on the spiders that are setting up home in the lobby.

And yes I must clean the steps!

I know they nest all over the town but this is something I spotted in Rua Joaquim Pedro Samora a few days ago. It's not clear from the picture but there are quite a number of chicks and one adult in there so I hope the "glue" holds.

Not really wildlife, but taken yesterday by the road going towards Guia.

Albufeira's railway station has a large resident population, under the eaves of the canopy and under the footbridge. Pictures taken Thursday morning. Greedy lot they seem to be, keeping mum busy for the 15 minutes or so I was there.

Cats don't worry much about floods and things. They just stretch out in the sun, put their heads on their paws and have a nice sleep before waking and demanding to be let in and fed.

Does anyone know what bird the black one is? It was all alone among the seagulls, sitting at the marina entrance quite undisturbed. It might perhaps be a cormorant of some type?. As you can tell I was a long way off and it's not a very good picture.

On the pic above I am told it is a cormorant, either a very brave or very stupid one.

On the subject of bird lfe, this is taking free range a bit too far perhaps? On the road towards Algarve Shopping yesterday afternoon. A dog was having fits about this but the birds ignored it.

Is there chlorine is that pool? He'll have been sick as a dog after drinking that - pardon the pun Tongue

Posted By: Big Col

It is tested and treated daily but not sure if it's chlorine as the latter irritates my eyes and this pool is ok.

Our dogs have always drank a little from the pool and my chlorine levels are kept 10% above recommended level - not enough to irritate eyes but it works for my pool. Dogs have 2 big 10 litre bowls to use but never a problem after they drink from the pool! Kids also ingest quite a lot!

There's been a group of Iberian Magpies in the pine trees at the back of us including a young chick that's probably about 3 weeks old. I first noticed it a couple of weeks ago when I walked along the garden and I got attacked by an adult magpie - it swooped down from behind me and hit my right ear. Obviously I had got too close to the chick which unbeknown to me was sitting in the hedge.
Anyway, it's been around here ever since as it can't fly yet and yesterday morning, as it was parked only 5 yards from our patio, I managed to get some pictures. The first one is an adult stealing a piece of bread from a Blackbird. On the others you can just see the tip of the wings of the chick, which has no tail yet, beginning to turn blue.

It flowers only once , towards the end of its thirty year lifespan, which is maybe why we don't see it very often in this form.
