Or, BMI Baby from Birmingham (same passengers) 21st July & 11th August = £1,250.94

I hate how people compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

Just read in Portugal News letters page that Ryanair are now counting the weight of bottles brought in duty free towards your carry on weight allowance, they weigh the bags at the departure gate and then charge accordingly.

BTW, found this which is quite useful

Last week when we went to book for October the flights were coming in at £95 return pp and when my wife tried to book there and then the page froze and wouldnt allow her to do so, then afterwards the price had jumped up to £116 return pp i know its for October but jumping so quick in the one day.
Heading out again on May 26th!!!

On a personal note I cannot agree with the use of the word "swindle" regarding Ryanair charging excess baggage for "extra" cabin baggage weight - with them you pay X amount for your own travel including a cabin baggage allowance - why should any excess be "free"?
Whether we like it or not that is how their business model works - anything above the "basic" is chargeable and the user pays - most of us support that principle in other areas so why not here ?
The "low(er) cost" carriers have added more to Algarve tourism than they have taken away overall (I sustained living here and commuting to Britain regularly for 7 years thanks to EJ/Monarch/Ryanair/BMIBaby and on the whole I would always say I got what I paid for)
Those with property who are able to visit several times a year mainly achieve that on the back of what these companies have provided and for all their faults - better that than the old days where there was effectively no "out of season" service to anywhere outside the SE of England.

OK, let's call it clever marketing then - actually they've been doing it since 2009 so I suppose anyone who gets caught now in 2012 has only themselves to blame for not reading the T&C's

We use Ryanair all the time. We know what the rules are before we travel.
We have the choice to pay for what we want if we go for up to a week we can manage with 2 lots of hand luggage if we need a case we pay £30, but, we have the choice.
Dicey that story is from 2009 and sections of the media seem to take delight in knocking Ryanair no matter what they do.
Yes you have to keep up to speed with them ie. they no longer take Netteller cards to avoid the booking fee but we have their prepaid card which does the same thing.
We only get to the Algarve so often because the flights are so cheap with Ryanair. I have said this before but all I am looking for is the cheapest option for my 2hours 40 minutes travelling. I sometimes pay more for for a 20 minute taxi ride over here than I pay for a flight to Faro.
Yes Ryanair staff at Faro airport can be a bit pedantic when it comes to telling ladies to put the smallest of handbags in to their piece of hand luggage but thats what their rules are so..

Dicey,
Loving that flight finder link and I'll tell you why... I just spent about 30 mins feeding in what we've already booked and... It came up with nothing cheaper or different to what we paid, nice one, reassuring.
Additionally I put in our provisional requirements for coming BH weekend, lo and behold it came back with same answer for us, Monarch. I had started to wonder, reading the thread above, if they'd got a bit pricey without me realising, seem's me playing with that link has shown, for our dates and preference for Birmingham, not so, they're cheapest in all our instances, surprising but I'm happy.
Thanks for the link, useful.
Andrew

If you want some good holiday reading then get hold of a copy of a paperback book called -

"Ruinair" (how to be treated like sh*te in 15 different countries, and still quite like it)

It's written by Paul Kilduff - very funny reading and it only costs £0.01 (excluding fees and charges of £7.98)

One of my mates from Denmark just lost €1000 on his flights for later in the month as the airline has gone belly up. Annoyingly his credit card wouldn't work on the day he brought them, so he used his debit card...
