So they've ruffled a few feathers with their half price (50%) promotion yesterday & are now being investigated by ASAE for"dumping goods below cost to eliminate competition".
Amazingly, it even got debated in Parliament today.

The whole of Portugal should be celebrating the fact that at last someone has at last had the bottle to break the all too obvious price cartel that exists here & at last true competition has arrived.

Long may it continue.

I hate how people compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

I received a whole of wad of vouchers in the post yesterday tied with my Continente loyalty card. Two lots of 10% off everything and several 50% discounts on specific products. But some of them are for things I would never normally buy eg Babybel cheese.

It's good to see that the competition between store chains is driving down prices but what will happen if one of them goes under?

The thought just occurred that by selling food at half price Pingo Doce is reducing the amount of IVA the government gets. That is probably their main concern!

We'll have them fully westernised eventually! ;-)

Competition eh, how unfair, leave the blind leading the blind I say, not!

I'm afraid I believe the world to be a competitive place and there's no getting away from it so when the going gets tough the fittest will survive, seems Pingo Clingo have cottoned on before their competitors, and look how well it worked, they needed the Police for queue management!

I got my vouchers yesterday too. All those 10% savings, brilliant. OK there are vouchers for things I don't buy but likewise there are some for stuff I do buy which is good. Competition in all fields is what is needed. We now need more petrol suppliers as Galp and Repsol have had the lion's share for too long. Look what happens in the UK, more people stocking and selling the same commodity the price comes down.
