Up near the bus station, another job started then seemingly abandoned.

With previous pictures having gone in the Great Disaster, here are a few more of the Crowne Plaza site taken on Friday 23rd from the hill on the other side of the marina.

This grassy wasteland is the roof of the car park above the top of the escalators. Someone obviously had grand designs for the place, but nothing has come of them. It's falling into ruin, with one part obviously being used by rough sleepers.

The standard of materials leaves something to be desired. We all know that gull poo is very toxic.

Thousands of people wait in the sun here for all kinds of buses ... always thought a wee cafe would do wonders ... even an ice-cream vendor ..

No doubt the rent was too much. The interiors were substantially completed but wiring is now being ripped out and windows broken by vandals.

I haven't been down that road lately but I noticed today that the old Mansão has been fenced off in the same way as the green tiled building. Until recently, the grounds were being used as a car park. It is also in a ruinous state, on the verge of collapse.

There is a ruin on Miguel Bombarda next to Casa del Mar which is partly roofless and probably ruined inside. Been empty a long time. Street View dated 7/2019 has a Vendido/sold sign on the door. It must have a great sea view. Has there been any sign of restoration?
It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams

None at all Jock. I didn't pay attention to the Vende-se sign the other day, whether it was  still there or not. Prime site but no parking, so could really only become a restaurant I guess. As if more were needed up there.

I will try to remember to have a better look when out tomorrow.

I was told the ruin next to Casa del Mar is owned by a Dutch guy who purchased it for €400,000. When part of the roof was looking very unsafe a few years ago someone turned up and collapsed part of it. I agree the views would be fantastic and I think it has a gate at the side where access to parking could be created as long as you don’t want to park a wide car.

It is no longer 'for sale'  but is in a parlous condition with a whole section of roof missing.  Big steel beams are holding up the main doors. There is indeed an alley behind the metal gate at the side, just big enough for two small cars.

The section of roof that is missing is obviously the bit they removed as it was unsafe.
I was told that people sat outside Tunes were clapping and cheering as it fell inwards.

Not sure about the roof.

Talk is a Welsh family bought it a few years ago but unfortunately he died and the family can’t decide what to do with it.
